When are the Union going to do something about these DSA parasites??
They take all RM's most profitable business, and to rub salt into the wounds we still have to deliver it ,at a loss.

Union can't do anything about it. To stop it would require something along the lines of managers, union, posties and directors taking a united stance and refusing to deliver it.

This firm has completely gone for a s**t.

Royal Mail is top heavy with tier after tier of management yet they don't seem able to get out into the market place and attract business, they just meekly surrender to the opposition whilst cutting back the bottom line. Oh for some kind of proactive management instead of reactive.

I remember someone suggesting the Union should organize a "no DSA" day to emphasize the job RM do in delivering and subsidizing their "competitors"
Also the Union could be alot more vocal about this issue ,when they appear on the TV and in other media imo.
And lastly when they negotiated with RM to "secure the future of RM" and "safeguard jobs",why wasn't the issue of DSA and the disgustingly rigged UK postal market not brought up???

The DSA issue has been raised plenty of times by the Union in the media and by Postal workers. Problem is none listens as long as it's still getting delivered... The issue of DSA was brought up in the negotiations, but ultimately the only ones who can do something about it is the regulator and RM.

Also even tho we aren't getting as much for DSA we are still getting something if we refused to deliver it we would effectively force the competition to go out and deliver it themselves maybe this would be a good thing and customers might come back to us but it might be a disaster for us if cheapo migrant workers in DHL/TNT shirts are walking the streets delivering mail for f**k all.

When DSA first arrived I remember that we HAD to deliver it for two years as part of the monopoly being lifted but after that we could start charging them what we liked? Did I imagine this or what? As much as RM are terrible employees I thought, when it came to money, they would be up to speed about this?

Only operational option to RML is reduce costs in order to make a profit on DSA, RML would like the access price made more realistic.

dingo mentioned by bypass a few days ago and whilst a full scale national network might not be replicated, TNT want to do domestic deliveries and if DSA ceases to be a cheaper option to them, then delivering buissnes items such as utilty bills/ bank letters in large urban areas on a minium wage workforce could well become a reality. TNT allready have the big sorting centres so it really wouldnt take much for them to seqeunce that mail and deliver it themselves.

I'm all for taking the bull by the horns and fighting competition but the problem is old joe public doesn't really give a shite when they get their mail or what time and that's the reality of it. Sure they will complain a little but nothing will happen they will just learn to put up with it because the cronies in Westminster say its for the best like they have with everything else in this country that's shite from trains to planes and other utilities.

Without DSA we will have rival posties out delivering stuff for less than what we are on and delivering twice as much as what we deliver. They will be cheapo migrant workers from Poland or some other poor foreign country who will be keen as mustard to do the job, then my friend we will be out of a job and on the dole.
