Been told today that we wont be getting a menu of options on attendance patterns or a minimum of 1 in 4 saturdays off until the WSM revision.
This means the impending delivery methods revision will not see a choice of min 1 in 4 sats off as per agreement.
Is this true or are we being done over?

Re: No Menu of Options Until WSM's?
The agreement on 1 in 4 (which is where the menu of options comes from) is, as with most of the agreement, a little vague.

SO it could mean some units waiting for 3 years (the life of the agreement). However, might be worth flagging to Area or Division so that they upper echelons are aware and can discuss it.Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 Saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves) during the roll out of the operational transformation programme.

There is nothing in the agreement AFAIK to suggest when you bring attendance patterns in. Non sequenced revision or sequenced revision is anybodys guess.
Depending on the timescale between the two revisions and if the majority wanted no change to attendance patterns then doing the 1 in 4 with WSM may be something worth thinking about..

I'm sure dingo has said something about when you have your other revisions you have to be careful what you do so it matches when you do the WSM revision,or words to that affect.
I would guess that most areas would have a rough idea when WSM'S are coming in and where each office would be roughly down the line.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: No Menu of Options Until WSM's?
No the manager is wrong. Royal Mail at first did try and hold this line as of course you didt have to change your saturday attendances to a normal day until you have walk sequencing , so management did try and say that the menu of options which delivered the 1 in 4 saturdays off would not be allowed.
However Royal Mail have now agreed that the menu of options can come in on revisions which are non sequenced revisions providing you adjust Saturdays and make it a normal saturday attendance.
However as postman quite rightly says you have to be careful as there is no point agreeing to a set of duty patterns based on a non sequencing revison if it is unsustainable when you have your sequencing revison as the work is not available before a ceratin time or that your work does not arrive until after 10.
For the record you do not have to have just one set of duties within an office. The whole point of the survey is for the rep , manager and planner to aim to meet a range of different choices of attendances providing their is workload aliegnment.

Re: No Menu of Options Until WSM's?
I am not intending to be critical here but I have never seen the point of a revision UNTIL the WSMs are in place and the reason is because the duties cannot be fixed until the machines are in and the 39 hour week implemented in whatever way it is going to be allowed. I have been in the position before where there was a lessening of the working week by 1 hour, the management wanted to have 12 minutes a day and the workforce wanted a shorter Friday a 7 hour day instead of eight and that is what people should hold out for, at worst you work it and get paid.dingo wrote:No the manager is wrong. Re: No Menu of Options Until WSM's?
Geezer
I trust the IWT version was 6.25 ?
There are a number of points which we have already signalled up as issues which the IWT has not picked up on.
Private boxes , RTS , Saturday retentions and taking the redirections to the town corner.
Their arguement in terms of the callers , BRE , book room, CSS and admin is that all work/hours assocaited with that should not be included in the IWT, as the work for most of those items have to come into the office traffic figure in the first place and therefore is recorded.
In terms of CSS well this hourage is for a number of units and should not really count in terms of the IWT. It will be recorded once in comes into the satelite office.
In terms of WTL that has been flaged up .
The issue of the missort retirval has also been questioned.
Now in terms of checking vehicle the planners are stating that should be part of the outdoor element in line with CDVs etc.
Your point on when you have returned to an office after delivery and any packets or extra signs of not be measured is a fair point , the concern however is that some of the timings i have seen for this is up to 15 mins and the work varies and my concern is if it is then measured will that reduce an offices perfromance and therefore be a negative issue ?
Have you tested the distances between the frames , PS locker etc yet. A lot of London offices are now testing jointly using the old wheel system to ensure it is correct.
My understanding is that the some of the assumptions of the IWT is going to be tested in the Gatwick area in the next couple of weeks.
