Comp days

I don't know what there called now,but when i started they were called comp days.Basically its any odd days holiday you have you applied for comp leave.Anyway the point is everytime i ask the manager for a day off i get a blatant no,this is before he's even checked.I was wondering if there is some managers new initative to not grant leave when its applied for due to the fact theres no staff to cover days off.

Same in our office.....you can never have aday off, when you have loads left......

Put it in writing!!!! It is best if you can give a few different days off that you would like. If he says no then you put in a grievance. Unfortunately this is the only way that seems to work with them and they hope that no one will put in a grievance but you need to put it in writing first.

Then you go higher stating that your grievance wasnt dealt with. You keep the pressure on and keep going higher and the higher you go then the more the line manager and/or dom starts to wet themselves because there will be fallout and they will be in line of sight. Grievances have to be dealt with as it is a standard of dealing with issues that is agreed by RM and the CWU.

Sadly not at my office..I have loads of days left to pick but oh guess what i can never have them when i want them even if ive asked months in advance

Well whadda you know im eating my words! last sat boss needed a round covered unexpectedly i said i'd do the whole thing in return for the following sat off (which i needed but had been refused) well he only went and said ok! I nearly fainted!
