Q. How will lapsing and absorption work?

A. The system will remain the same as now, with DOMs identifying spare capacity with their teams and the union rep. Shared Van deliveries will provide a more structured approach to work with. Typically, the DOM will identify a walk or number of shared van walks close to the office that other shared vans will pass through or near.

Shared van walks are split into a number of loops, and each shared van capacity will take an additional loop to deliver. As the loops are planned they will have a known and equal time. Shared van delivery frames should identify and order these loops.

How do they work out reserve numbers anyway?

reserves are based on a 1 over 7 raito, but if you'e lucky you could get 1 over 6.

1 over 7 = 8 people taking roughly 5 weeks annal leave each plus 1 week sick = 48 weeks. this leaves the 4 weeks a year which no one is allowed to book ie christmas pressure = 52 weeks
