I have been diagnosed with 3 malignant but slow growing brain tumours, after a few stays in hospital and a lot of messing around with my meds, my symptoms seem to be under control for now but already i have been off for 3 months. (since mid april) Thinking about going back to work as treatment wont be starting yet. My question is this.. if I go back then radiotherapy/chemo start and I need to go sick again, how am I fixed regarding pay and how long do i get it for?

I don't know what the situation with pay is. Other than you start off on full pay, then go down to half pay, and finally end up on SSP. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you the timescale. But I do know that "the clock" isn't reset, if you return to work. It just stops, until you go back on the sick, or you clear the time limit.

hi pam it,s 6 month full pay then 6 month half pay plus you get staturity sick pay on top of the half pay hope all goes well been in a similar position myself good luck

it is 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay but this is over the year. So if you've had 3 months off now and you go back to work when you go off sick again you'll only get full pay for 3 more months. I think that is right but I stand to be corrected. I hope you make a full recovery, good luck.

Firstly, get yourself sorted, your health is more important than work xx
Secondly, get ATOS involved and your Doctor. Make sure you're not doing any more than you can manage and that EVERYTHING is documented. If RM try anything underhand then there's more ammo for you to stick it to them in a tribunal.
Thirdly, if you've had time off sick now, and go off again later, it's as if the period of sickness had continued with regards to pay. If I had 6 months off sick Oct- Mar and then returned just as half pay started. If I went off again later in the year, I'd only get half pay still, even though it's a new absence.
