So Royal Mail want to stick me on a rural delivery so they want to drive. They said I need to do a test?
How strict is this 'test'? How long does it last? Any specific maneuvers you have to perform?
Is it like a proper driving test? I don't really perform very well under pressure and when being watched very closely.. lol. That and I have never driven anything other than my own car, certainly not one of those small vans.
It's not a test! It's an assessment to see if you're safe to drive. Takes about an hour and will involve normal driving, reversing, junctions etc. Take your time and it'll be a piece of piss!

Normally a Transit van. Should not be too hard to pass and nothing like a real driving test. Just watch you dont mount the kerb with your inside rear wheel when turning left at a junction and keep an eye on your speed as they are a bit funny on that.
If possible see if you can get a bit of practice in before hand
Oh get someone to show you all the checks (oil / water) etc and the location under the bonnet. When i took mine for the life of me i could not find the dipstick still passed though.

How different is it driving a transit van to a car? It would be nice if I could get some practice in as I have never driven anything near that big, but that won't happen seeing as my assessment is tomorrow!
Much of an adjustment with regards to clutch control and gears, or simply just a case of being more aware of your spacing and using solely side mirrors?
