hi all just a quick question for you, i have asked my line manager for a transfer but have been told that royal mail as a company have stopped all transfers and no new ones will be taking place.I was just wondering if anyone had heard this or is it just in some areas

Thats rubbish. If you know the exact office you want to go to it might be in your interest that you pay them a vist and see the managers there.

I have recently got a FT transfer to another area, but without child care issues and going through atos the only option would have been going with a reduction of hours. I knew the office i wanted and saw the manager there on a good few occasions. I also knew they had vacancies (which office doesnt) but they dont want to fill with FT.Trouble is at the moment what with savings and implimenting p&m 2010 most places are up in the air, lack staff and really reluctant to take on permanent FT unless they have too. Good luck with your transfer, explore every avenue.
