80% Call Rate & Lapsing 'Rule'

Being told if we have a call rate at below 80% we cannot refuse or bring back work from a lapsed duty.

Managers are being told to count the empty slots of those who say they wont have time to do it.

Several flaws in this as it doesnt take into account houses with many letters (still takes time to flick when you are stationary outside a house, right?) Also doesnt take into account flat fronted terracing as opposed to long driveways.

Well pick i'm no genius but if i had say 3 letters for No 1 and nothing for Nos 2+3 i know what i would do.....

I've no worries there, as my walk even on a quiet day is well over 80%! And I suspect a lot of walks are the same.

Can't see what call rate has to do with time? What are you supposed to do if you run out of time to complete? I'm confused

This is what happens when imbeciles are continuously appointed to the top jobs in RM.
It's what happens when said imbeciles then install a fat, juicy, bonus system for themselves, which rewards them very well for putting front-line staff under inexcusably hard pressure.
In short, crass stupidity, fuelled by greed, on the greater part of RM executives, and to a smaller extent, on the part of RM workers themselves, is why the job for so many people, is Crap with a capital C.

So a walk with 600 houses will have 120 houses with no mail?

What kind of walk is that light? All the walks I cover, even on a light day, never have more than 20 - 30 empty slots.

I often go to all houses apart from maybe 5. Mind you, the council are mental, always sending crap to every house.

you canno't refuse to take lapsing out, but you don't have to do it if it would take you past your contracted hours, in fact you dont have to do any work that takes you over your hours. Managers say what they like to try to get work done by mugs like us which gets them their bonus, but the fact of the matter is they can't tell you to do anything except work your hours, even if you bring back 1 bundle of mail that will take you 10mins to do because your time is up that is fine and they can't do fk all about it.

I did this today.

We have a round that everyone says is easy but thats cos most get in 30 mins early and the regulR bloke writes 729's b4 he goEs out. he then does a pArt del bewteen the second and third wave so he is done at 9.30. I do it by the book and cant do absorbing or is it lapsing. Whast the diffrenece.
