part timers ,bagged up

do any any part timers ( 24 hours ) have their mail bagged up and ready to go ?? and is this how it should be for part timers ? ..am trying to find out what the full situation is , because i got threatened with the sack one day for ..forgetting to take one of the 2 huge sacks of packets (the one still being on the sack rack ) .that i had to sort out when i came in everyday ..after the same manager asked me to throw off a load of mail .delaying me by 40 minutes .before i could even get started ...at the time..i was in such a rage i was close to quitting ..after said episode .and regret not taking it further with the union rep..i feel such a fool now for letting the whole episode slip by ..on reflection ..i think why the hell should i have even been sifting thru tons of packets ..doing 25 redirections ...

I bet not many (24hr) part timers have their mail bagged up and ready to go, it's all part of the royal mail p/t con expecting you to work beyond your contracted hours nothing said.

How i see it is - management are quite accomodating when it comes to picking up bonuses earnt off the back of us, but not so accomodating when their told you don't want to work beyond your hours, it's as if it's your fault, being awkward, not pulling your weight - god blimey they implemented all this geo-route/pegasus crap making unmaneagable workloads for p/timers they should deal with it in a honourable fashion.

If you don't want to work beyond your contracted hours then don't, if you have any hassle of management see your union rep and he should sort it.

Not in our office they bag up themselves. But the managers bundle up thier laspsing and place it all nice and ready on the benches.

All part timers in my office do nearly everything themselves. On short days (mon tues and sat) most get some prep done for them, about half if they are lucky, usually just the trays. On longs (wed, thurs and fri) they do everything, although they get an extra hour (and have to claim for it).

im on 22.5 contract and you will always ask any chance of a full time contract not while u blow the royal mail trumpet wise up
