What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??
If all we're going to get is more harrassment from the management??
I might as well break all H&S rules and regs and finish half an hour earlier, just to avoid a showdown with the gaffer.
I dont use a car and Im not going to either but tomorrow is first day back after a week off and I know there are 3 D2D's and he wants lapsing done.
Now I cant possibly take 2 bags out so that means at least 45 minutes to get to the lapsing, deliver it and return to the office to collect my bag, then to the bus stop to wait for 1 bus.
Its all time but I know he's going to want it done.

It actually makes your life easier and if you have a strong office that won't take any bull from management even better.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You won't need to. Cameron is 'looking' at the existing H&S Regulations. I think that means a return to pre-Victorian ideals.mclovin wrote:

Daz.
Sometimes I despair at people. I agree we need to try to save jobs, but maybe if it was their job on the line, they might think twice. I doubt it though, they don't even think once, except for the obvious, how can they save an extra 30 seconds.

RM is harassment may as well get harassed do things right, then harassed and stressed just so a manager can report he has reached his lapsing targets.mclovin wrote:If all we're going to get is more harrassment from the management??
Until you come a cropper after an accident and then you'll get a different type of show down with the gaffer.mclovin wrote:I might as well break all H&S rules and regs and finish half an hour earlier, just to avoid a showdown with the gaffer.
Do them, but if you can't get it done in time claim or cut off - your choice as both options are voluntary after all.mclovin wrote:I dont use a car and Im not going to either but tomorrow is first day back after a week off and I know there are 3 D2D's and he wants lapsing done.
Time travelling to your own duty and to and from the lapsed duty should be included in your duty time. If you cant complete both in time ^^^^^^^^^mclovin wrote:Now I cant possibly take 2 bags out so that means at least 45 minutes to get to the lapsing, deliver it and return to the office to collect my bag, then to the bus stop to wait for 1 bus.
So do it if you can otherwise ^^^^^^^mclovin wrote:Its all time but I know he's going to want it done.

Have a showdown, let him try and conduct you. What grounds will he have..? You cant fit a pint into a half pint pot can you? Stand up to him then if he keeps on at you , then walk away and file a bullying and harrassment against him.DONT LET THE BULLYING CONTINUE.mclovin wrote:If all we're going to get is more harrassment from the management??

Explain before you go out that you cant complete your duty and then ask him what you should do.If you can do it ok, if you cant stand your ground. Dont lose your temper.....keep calm and dont get wound up.Your d2d should be done , minimum of one sixth per day.Dont let him bully you into doing more. WORK YOUR EIGHT HOURS, you havent got to do a second more. Good luck
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??.....because it acknowledges the good and the noble, rejecting the weak and insipid. Without pride in ourselves, we will remain subservient.
What's the point in finishing half an hour early if you have sold out your principles to make a slimy little manager look good.
If he's the kind of guy to give you grief for doing the job properly he's a f**king liability and it's only a matter of time before somebody, maybe you ends up in his sights anyway.
Knnow the rules.
Stick to them.
Laugh at him....it's all good.

8 hours?? Tuesdays are 7hrs 25 minutes, minus 40 minutes break leaves only 6hrs 45 minutes to fit the full day in.

Re: What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??
THIS is what RM want, all this pish about hand in hand with the workers carp is just words, they want the flyers to keep on,it means more lapsing, less jobs, only thing is the flyers can't or won't see whats happening, its been going on for too long,it ain't gonna change ,unless it is in RM's favour, how can you get done for doing the job properly?I would LOVE my DOM or lino to harrass me with that, how i would love all the flyers to catch themselves on,the numptie p/t'ers who are doing 12 hr days, working the days off etc. all to stop, then see how long the DOM's realise that the workers have the power & RM by the short & curlies & not percieved to be the other way around

Re: What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??
How about thats what your paid to do,Do your job as it should be done, walk dont run, your not paid to run, look at what your posting through the door of each house making sure that it is for that house, write your dockets out clear and make sure you have all the right infomation on it so when the inquirey office gets a customer looking for thier packet they can find it with ease, this is what your job is about!if you become a runner or use your car then alot of these things dont get done,it becomes a habbit where you can get home quicker if you cut corners, come on people your paid to work your hours if you cant do the job in the hours then cut off or do the over time or what i like best is cutting off and claiming o/t,the reason the IB are about is because they want to catch you all out,Royal Mail will use anything to cut staff in ways that dont cost them money. This is the point of doing the job properly!

Re: What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??
Funy thing is thats exactly what I did today. Couldnt take the lapsing out as I had no transport (as was promised). Manager had gone out transporting others, so left a message for him to phone me, which he did and we agreed he'd bring it over when I finished mine.
Took my time, did my 105 d2d's, unfortunately it was really light today so finished at 12.20.
Manager met me as agreed and gave me a lift home, got my lapsing covered by someone else.
Now thats quality management.

Re: What is the point of "Doing the job properly"??
Im afraid the workers have been broken, and apart from 1 or 2 who try, the rest just accept they need to come in early, run around, use their cars and well.....thats what they do.
