Indoor Workload Tool

How many people on here know what this is and at what BSI their office is performing?
This tool is being rolled out by all DOM`s in my sector and it calculates how many indoor hours your office needs to complete IPS, prep, redirections and pull out. RM want all DO`s performing at 100 BSI. I dont know if senior CWU officials know about this or whether 100 BSI has been agreed. Your observations / comments will be appreciated. :crazy:

The Indoor Workload Tool is pretty simple but your traffic figures have to be accurate for it to mean anything.
You have x amount of manual letters.
You sort at rate y.
Therefore it takes z minutes to complete.

The problems begin when you have to start clearing down boxes, or someone goes to the bog for 15 minutes, or you are sorting letters into boxes full of flats etc.
And then it depends what prep rate they use.
All our IPS sorters are good experienced sorters yet we never seem to meet their targets.
The Dom says we should have 20 spare hours for lapsing while we are all struggling to get out the door on time. :hmmmm

The new improved IWT will include redirections and how far your frame is from the IPS.
Coming to a DO near you soon.........

Dont forget the D2D should now be included in this as well, the latest version has a measurement to input these as well

Have we any docs or figures on it?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

ben told today that revision is a go go in our office and said has to be done by week 26.( RUSHED THROUGH BASICALLY) said to dom when are we getting arrivals and he shook his head lit a fag. walked up yard. didn,t want to answer any questions about it even thoughhe has been to meeting for last three days.

WHY ARE WE BEEN KEPT IN THE DARK SO MUCH ABOUT FUTURE CHANGES?

LIKE I HAVE SAID B4 THE UNION GUY IS UP DOM,S ARSE SO MUCH HE DON,T TELL US NOTHING EITHER.

Dont forget the D2D should now be included in this as well, the latest version has a measurement to input these as well
Yes D2D is included and can be split to individual walks giving x amount of minutes per walk based on traffic figures and no. of D2D contracts for walk

We've had so many revisions since SDD that IPS in our office is sh**e! Bet the IWT doesn't take that into account! :roll:

My DOM does not have the current version of the IWT and is awaiting it to be emailed to him. Bad planning by the upper echelons :d'oh!

No it won't but I don't think it cares.
If the IPS is finished on time the IWT monster will be happy. If it is all missorted ..........?
