Summer lapsing has gone too far

We r still summer lapsing from last year n more this year, they have gone too far this time n the guys who use public transport r getting crucified by the runners in their cars, as they r able to complete but we can't, so r bein accused of under performing, I think strike action should be threatened if the management don't get their attitudes sorted out.... U guys who use ur cars should take a good look at urselfs if u are not making time in access of an hour by doin so n that's without counting ur break also.

Delivery staff have brought this about all by themselves. Rushing about - using their cars etc. etc. The Royal Mail have given some staff enough rope - and the staff are now hanging themselves. As for industrial action? I've lost count of the times I've been out on strike fighting for a cause. Whilst working at a mail centre. When my village postman toddles up my garden path totally oblivious to the fact I've lost several days pay. While they continue working. And don't say this hasn't happened before.

I totally agree, RM have let out plenty of rope for many years with the carrot of an early finish and now they are pulling it back in, sadly its found its way around our necks.

My office is the same with a flood of cars blocking the yard at 8.45am whilst being stuffed full of bags.

Deliveries was a very different animal once upon a time,i am not justifying the actions of the idiots but the job has changed beyond recognition in the last 10 years and only SOME of the problems facing D.O.s are of their own making.
If there is one thing i can't be bothered with it's a screw the Delivery Offices/Mail Centres...the've brought it on themselves post.

How do u guys find time to lapse,our rounds are so tight theres just no spare time,dont get me wrong our dom has tried it on,he wanted two rounds absorbed last week,when our rep told him there was no way we could do it ,He insisted we give it a go.So we played along said wed give it our best shot ,should have seen his face when every round in the office failed that day.Funnily havent heard much about lapsing since

Well said, our office doesn't do it and we are the only one in our postcode area that doesn't. Some lads come in from other offices use their cars, they will turn up at our office at half 12 to take 2 rows out after finishing their own beat in their office. Few lads are disgruntled about this, one even said he may report them to the police for having inadaquate insurance. Simple fact is though that our office is being pointed out as underperforming! If the other offices in the area actually did the job properly, Our DSM would see, that we don't underperform, we merely do things the way they should be done as per the agreement. I know people on here advocate using their cars but its wrong, and whats more they are now banned. DOMs should (but won't) be putting a stop to this.

Cars are not banned until you have your WSM revision.Could be anything up to 3 years depending on where you are.

When I put my foot down and said I was no longer working over the DIMs didnt seem bothered
after a few weeks of me streaming,not doing lapsing and leaving packets every day they were well pissed off with me

however,what got me the most was posties all around me running around,working over and being stressed about getting everything done?
there I am in a row of 22 walks and Im showing them exactly what they need to do
they're out lapsing,taking out everything,coming in early etc
as Im strolling off to my break,they are flapping at the locker trying to get their SD's
often I would be the first van back and yet they still didnt get it(and still dont)

Thats whats happening at our office pal. Quite a few of us are doing the job PROPERLY, yet we have spanners running round like headless chickens. A few of us have been pulled as to why we are slowing down, we explained we are doing the job properly not slowing down, but these twats rushing round are making it difficult for us and now we are being singled out cauuse of them.

Cars are not banned until you have your WSM revision.Could be anything up to 3 years depending on where you are.

We're having the rest of a CDV revision, and insisited cars are banned for allowing this to come in.

As has been said so many times, most of the problems I see people moaning about on this forum can be solved if everyone did the job right, accepting that they are starting on their time and finishing on their time with a break built in. The only motivation to not do this now, is pure selfishness. I know change is difficult, but the more that people resist it, the less likely that future revisions will be correct, the more absorption there will be and the more the people doing it right will be harassed.

Work to your time, why is that so hard? I got asked to absorb part of a delivery on Thursday, I pointed out that I would be struggling to do my own round in my time let alone some off another walk but I said I would try my best. Anyway the lino sent a pouch to my drop point for a nearby walk, did my last letter on my own delivery at 13:40. I had a pouch of empty pouches/packets from my own delivery to bring back so I left the pouch he had sent out at the drop point since under health & safety you can't bring back 2 pouches on your bike.
