Did you know that posties coming in Early in the mornings are breaking the health and safety rule within Royal Mail, also where some offices has two posties in the Evening time working in a role called ops segregating mail are as well.
In the Morning at least ONE First Aider has to be in the premises even if there is only two people in the unit, same as the Evening time. the Managers are playing with Fire allowing the workforce in the unit up to a Half or a Hour earlier.

Royal Mail can get in serious trouble for this and it may lead to prosecution ...
Just look around in the building Tomorrow Morning and ask yourself how many of these early birds are first aiders. I know the First aiders in my office.. Only two weeks ago one was on his day off. One was on leave, the other was on afternoon duties.
When you challenge the manager they will say “I’m a first aider ” then ask for their certificate….
Anything happens to you overhead lighting falls on you or a overhead fan, slippy floor, etc, your not covered under the insurance….
Its only a matter of time where someone of the early birds will collapse and a Manager will be like a headless Chicken looking for a first aider only to find they are not due in till later....

It may be your manager is not aware of the change in the law.

How many first aiders does my company need to have?

First aid cover in the workplace is a legal requirement. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) introduced a new set of regulations which came into force on 1st October 2009. These revised regulations require you to provide 'adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to your employees if they are injured or become ill at work'. What is 'adequate and appropriate' will depend on the circumstances in your workplace and you should assess what your first-aid needs are.

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (L74 second edition) sets out the aspects of first aid that employers need to address, offering practical advice on what they need to do, and aims to help employers understand and comply with the Regulations.

This second edition provides details of a new training regime for first-aiders in the workplace. It has been revised to give employers greater flexibility in determining their first-aid provision and to recommend annual refresher training for first-aiders to help maintain their skills.

these are guidelines or recommendations.

RM policy is to have 1 First aider for every 15 staff, but that's not always possible.

as long as an ambulance or doctor etc can be called if necessary then that is "enough"

I usually get to work about 5 mins early.Hard to get there bang on or i would do :)
When i get there i usually see 6 or 7 people already there and they have thrown in their d2d and halfway through their walksorted mail.
15 mins pass,gaffer shouts everyone on and i'm one of 3 or 4 idiots who still have mail to throw off.
I never catch up and i'm always near last out.

If work is there to do in offices, then why are starting times made later than they need to be, if start times reflected workload available, then there would be no one starting early as everybody would be starting earlier, or am I just being thick ?. And just to make my position clear, I start and finish on time, but like so many others on here, when I arrivve I find 75% of the office at there frames with plenty of mail already thrown in.

Not necessarily!

At my place they used to come in early,do the business then sit on their frames waiting for us to finish,and the missorts and could not go until every thing was out of the pidgeon holes.
Local redi's ect.

So yes,they are not only stoooooopid,but thick as s**t.

and has it crossed their mind that it increases pressure on those going in on time and following RM's procedures?
