Line Managers

What has happened to all the Decent line managers.And do you even know who your line Manager is now.
Something Came up in our office the other Day about who our line Manager was ,so many people inluding myself did not know wich Manager was meant to be in charge of us!

At One time our line Manager would come round to see you daily,making sure every thing was alright and if not he would get it sorted .He was a very expirenced Manager and very expirenced former postman.He knew every trick in the book,proably inveted many himself when a Postman.
Most of the time after busy difficult days he would come round and thank you for your efforts.This guy had Respect from Staff,he new if you was trying to pull a fast one or if it was genuine.

Now most weeks we have new linos,We have Politicaly correct appointed Managers,based upon Gender and Colur of skin as opposed upon knowledge of deliverys or ability to Manage.We have as Roy Mail would say Bright Young thing,etc.Now Managers who are expirenced and knowledgble of Deliverys are few ad fair between.

Now we have Managers who are on another planet totaly and cannot comuicate with people. If you speak to them about a problem with your delivery ,they do not understand .
The PC Manager Simply shrugs their shoulders and walks off.

Only expirenced Postmen can shape future delivey Revisions successfully,.
How can you have a Planning Dept,Planning new walks and delivery methods when they have no pratical knowledge.

A Planning Manager told me the other day it takes hardly any extra to delivert to 100% of the houses every day than the present call rate.
If on Monday you start delivering 100% call rate to every house ,I am sure by Saturday with fatige you will be slower,but not according to a planning Manager who has no knowledge of walks.

Planning managers are not allowed to test walks (FACT) I think some thing to do with the Fag and Coffe breaks ,they have to have.

I thought Bristol Mail Centre manager was the only decent manager in the building until recently, the bloke who you could go to as a last resort. Hes taken it upon himself to harass individuals he doesnt like personally. Of course there are three manager steps between him and a member of staff so why is he spying on and picking on people himself. I think after doing the job for about two years his enthusiasm and professionalism has gone. With the new agreement saying that Mark Higson wants the CWU to be involved in all changes, those managers who thought the union was dead have taken a lasting body blow. We have also got a line manager who hates the union and is full of personal vendettas which he wants to pursue. With us doing an hour less per week hes going to hate us even more.

in the last 13 years i've seen half a dozen former postman become managers,they were all s**t ,idle,bastards who would shaft there workmates at drop of a hat,low and behold even bigger w*****s as managers,except they're 3-4 stone heavier!!!

We've had 9 line managers on our section since 2005 The latest one is a former postie on our section; some of the blokes don't like him but he seems to leave me alone. One of our former line managers resigned when the IB caught him sending mail from walks that he couldn't get covered for shredding with the deads.
