Wallington System

What is this system? If some one on here could explain in laymans terms so as in order to help reps.

5 weeks on 1 week off.

you work 6 8hr days a week ( full time) for 5 weeks then you have a week off

you also lose a week's a/l as you are scheduled to work 6 days a week not 5 so use 6 days for a week off

but you gain 8 weeks during the year (not including a/l)

If I was working that system I would work the five weeks then be taken to the mortuary for an endless rest. Who the bloody hell can work six days a week at this job. They must be finding a nice resting place to kip for an hour or two during the shift.

I wish i could find a nice place for a kip during my shift!!!!!
I'm knackered by the end of the 5th week but it's definately worth it wouldn't want to swap to another system now after doing this for a few years

There is a slightly different system that we looked at at our place before we went to the 4 day week,i will try and explain it as best as i can from memory.

We would of worked a 5 day rolling rest day week.
Mon-Fri pick up a 1/4 of a walk.
And on sat just work our normal 8hr duty.Which would be the 'banked' 8hrs for us to have a week off.
If i rem right we would work in groups of 5,so the 5th bod would be off as we would cover their walk which was the 1/4 bit.
But for the life of me i can't rem how we managed to just do our 8hr duty on the Sat as the bod with the week of would not be in.

I will try and look for the paperwork when i go in.

Half our office do the Wallington system including long and shorts most of our walks are done by cycle and walking

Nearly all of us like the system and yes it is tiring but having a week offf and a few of us try and book an annual leave week next to wallington week so get longer time off.

Our office does this system, its good but imo physically a bit tough as you get a bit older and you sort of wish your life away waiting for th rest weeks! Given a choice now, id swap for a monday to friday. Ive never had the weekend as regular rest days in 25 years so wouldnt mind finding out what its like.

It is lovely perk but it is demanding to work 48 hours a week.

Part timers do this in my collection hub. It means that they cover most of the long saturdays leaving a few smaller collections for others on Sa, and means that those who only want to work mon to friday can do so. They can also work some of their week off if they like, works a treat .

our office in does this system.personally i like it because you can go away for the week etc rather than have rest days each week.also you have the option to work the rest week and get double bubble at the end of the week.
