Why are they looking at 7am starts?

As title says, why?
new machinery surely means mail sorted quicker, so gets to dely offices quicker, why cant we start even earlier.
Come on dhl or similar, get an infrastructure and a guarantee thaat youll deliver mail -all mail, no laater than 12 or 1 at latest, and youll have an army of trained posties at your disposal.

Pipeline the office with the machines in will be last to receive while far away offices will be dispatched first so they can stick to the 56mph limit also the longer you wait for mail the less staff they need and the more they can get out of you all.

i think it's got a lot to do with the closure of many city centre mail centres. here in Liverpool our mail centre is closing -moving to Warrington. it simply takes longer for mail to get to us.
i agree it seems ridiculous. and the public (our apparent customer) will not like getting their mail even later.

In part it is that but all royalmail is looking at is achieving next day delivery targets it does not specify a time of delivery nor collection times all they look at is the least amount of staff so they get big bonuses while we get the complaints!.

We've been told once Walk sequencing is in not to expect our last lorry before 8:30am, so we will probably be looking at 8am or even 9am starts.

If that is last one you would be in about 1 hour or so before but i cannot guarantee it just bear in mind that royalmail chop and change at will!.
