How are your drivers in regarding taking packets, we have 2 maybe 3 people at out place that are absolute to**sers when it come to helping you out with the odd packet, ussually leave it back on your frame or in your packet bag for the next day you go to line managers and they are worse than useless, is this typical or not? some drivers will help you out but the 'majority' will not at least in my experience.

That about sums it up. They will of course do favours for their mates and expect posties to deliver their "tracked" items if possible, but some appear to have an allergy to packets.

Mines ok as long as i dont take the piss and do some of the bigger ones for the shops,he takes most if not all i ask him to.

I usually give him the finger if I see him driving around.

when i had the misfortune to work as a delivery driver almost ALL postmen in my area were the laziest gits and thought anything bigger than an A4 envelope was a packet.
even had some cases where a small letter was given to me because it was a recorded delivery and the postman knew he wouldn't get an answer and couldn't be arsed to put a card through and have to take it back to the office.
the dim and assistant dim always backed the postmen in these situations even though they knew the postmen were finishing early most days and i had to cut off EVERY day.
it got to a point where i stopped arguing about it every day and just took everything that was in my packet sleeves and brought even more back when i cut off.

p.s. once had a packet for a POSTMAN who answered the door even though it was 3 hours before he was due to finish.

Did he say thank you or words to the effect!. Well when the time comes of two in a van they will be up sh!t street they don't know how easy they have had it till they lose it!.

We get told to take large items that have DO NOT BEND on them like xrays, kennel club stuff. Larger than A3. We say they wont fit in the bag, our DOM always finds a way, by bendig the item into the bag. If the its a parcel thats near a pouch box, you take it.

I think the problem is the job of a delivery postman has changed enormously over the past few years.
The increase in packet traffic and the later starts mean we are often left carrying packets around with us because no-one is in to accept them.
It was so different when we delivered between 0700 and 0930.
The view of a delivery postie is at least if they can't get someone in they just put it back in the van. For us if you've got 3 packets/bag and 9 bags - in theory you could end up with a bag of 27 packets to lug around.
It is true that if a packet driver has to do a postround for whatever reason, they quickly change their view about what constitutes a driver's packet.
