saturday contract men getting prefrence over seniour men

recently in our office ,like most others ,duties are being 'lapsed' seems eveytime a duty is lapsed it is someones who isnt liked by management,union reps or both.what i want to know is ,how do we get a duty again?? as any vacant duties in our office are being covered by men on saturday only contracts.this means there are men working in the office 20 or 30 years who are leave reserves now.starting from monday this week more duties are going ,leading to more senior men being reserves and we all know what happens when youre a reserve and not an arse licker.you get all th s**t duties.surely first of all duties shouldnt be lapsed until we have a vote on this deal and secondly all duties vacant for over six months should be up for signing for or a full repick should happen.its already be mentioned to our rep but no one seems to care.this to me is the begining of the end for seniority.so is it leave reserve then for life if management take a dislike to you???

I can't go into that area as I am Protestant/catholic, then a senior man to u gets thrown on that walk n u get his?? I mean where does it end making up rules as they go along

Sounds like he's in N.Ireland if so then yes there can be safety concerns in some areas unless the dump has changed in the last 15 years since I lived there.

if their are genuine concerns over saftey then that should trump seniority in my view.

work to rule and cut off, that will stop it, if people dont mind finishing on their time untill management backtrack, if not then managment will do what they like

i only wish everyone would take this view.problem is the ones on the easy duties are able to do the lapsing and do .which then makes the rest of us look like trouble makers.then the dickhead unqualified bosses spend their days watching us and waiting for any little slip up so they can life out of us.we would really need a def union ruling on this lapsing crap and not just at local level,right from the top.
