Well in theory at least we should be able to negotiate 4 day weeks the same as anywhere else - but you can bet your backside that ain't going to happen.

There were 7 'enablers' in phase 2 of the agreement that were to be negotiated locally. One of them was inevative duty strucsures, whoever negotiated this for your unit, your unit rep if you have one, was aware. When i say your unit rep was aware, i should add a caveat it was very unfair for this work to be passed down to your unit rep. Phase 2 negotiated had to be concluded by a deadline to prompt a £400 payment, not completing them on time still meant having to do everything which was involved in phase 2 only without the £400 payment, a disticntion which was lost on lots of members.
That was only one of the enablers, others included long and shorts, summer savings, lots of work for your rep! and probally with little thanks, for the record our rep at the time, (not me) did an excellent job.
