If not then you don't understand the voting system of this country and need to read up on it. If no one voted it comes in by default

Whatever way this goes a large turnout is essential with a very clear majority for the outcome.

No more of this one third not voting, just under a third vote no and just over a third vote yes.

It wouldnt surprise me if this becomes a way forward mark 2, no vote 1st time around, some changes made then voted in 2nd time around.

Back in 2007, a bloke in my office explained his reason for not bothering to vote

"We all know the money-grabbers are going to vote Yes, so it was always going to get voted-in anyway"

Well of course the Yes votes won you numb-nut. You and thousands of others didn't vote against. You lost how many days pay, then didn't even vote ?

I can respect peoples reasons for voting Yes, and I can also respect peoples reasons for voting No

As you are not a member of the union, what right do you have to even comment on this agreement? You don't pay the subs, but still take the pay rise (when there is one) that the CWU has negotiated on behalf of it's members.

Personally I think non members should negotiate their own pay deals and agreements... it stinks they get the benefits (when there is any!) of agreements and deals that union members have paid for out of their subs.

And on the issue of voting, people who refuse to use their right to vote should remember that as we speak there are people in countries around the world who are being killed and imprisoned fighting for the right to vote, and the right to even form trade unions.

So to all those nobs who think it is clever or funny not to bother voting, or who lack even the energy to put a cross in a box on a printed form, and post a prepaid envelope....you make me sick.

Be careful with that line of argument. If their non-membership means the 2010 agreement does not apply to them, they would retain their current d2d payments, not lose their early shift allowance, and not have to do more than 3 d2ds per week. Only the CWU could snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so spectacularly well that not being in the union leaves people better off !!
