RE: National Agreement – Local Briefings / Ballot Timetable

The purpose of this LTB is to advise Branches that the ballot timetable will be finalised next week and notified to Branches accordingly.

The Union is currently undertaking detailed briefings with all local representatives across the United Kingdom. These local representative briefings are crucial to our commitment that when CWU members vote on the new National Agreement, they do so on the most informed basis possible.

The full schedule for these briefings, including those that have already been completed, are set out below:

Bristol Tuesday 16th March covering all unit reps in South West / South Wales region
Birmingham Wednesday 17th March covering all unit reps in the Midlands
Manchester Thursday 18th March covering all unit reps in the North West
Glasgow Friday 19th March covering all unit reps in Scotland
York Tuesday 23rd March covering all unit reps in North East region
London Wednesday 24th March covering all unit reps in the South East / Anglia and South Central divisions
London Monday 29th March covering all unit reps in London

These briefings will be supported by further direct communications to CWU members’ home addresses.

It really is important that every CWU Branch conveys to their local members that the union is currently undertaking these briefings and that the ballot will take place after they have concluded.

The Postal Executive will be meeting next week and will also consider the latest position on pensions.

Can't seem to find Northern Ireland in the timetable!!!

Is it that the CWU bigwigs dont give two shites about their members across the water?

Think they tend to forget that we are first out anytime we are asked but get absolutley no recognition whatsoever.

We also pay our dues and should be shown some respect and given the chance to air our views to the leadership in the exact same way as they do in Scotland, Wales and England.

I expect we'll be getting a deluge of propaganda - posters, Courier articles, WTLLs, and maybe even
video presentations (if they can find someone more telegenic than Higson & Tolhurst) before the ballot.
