Part timer and D2d questions

Post by derkhead »

Can someone explain this to me please. Im a rest day cover. All the 5 walks i cover the regular postmen do their own d2ds. Ive never had to do them myself and its been like that for the 3 years ive been in RM. The regular postmen work 5 days a week. If they take 20% per day, over 5 days that equals 100% of their d2ds. Their isnt a spare 20% for me to take out on the one day i cover each round.

If someone could clear that up for me, thanks.

Also if this gets voted through which im hoping it doesnt, will part timers be forced to take out d2ds? Is there any oppurtunity to opt out of d2ds for rest day cover?

Will the regular postmen in your opinion, start obliging me to take out some or not. And if so wouldnt it be more like 16 - 18 % of d2ds per day?

Thanks

D2D:Old deal: they are supposed to be done Mon/Fri only,so you should of done one of those days depending on your day off,you were entitled if you wanted it to 20%.

D2D:New deal: they are to be done Mon/Sat,there is a payment of 20.60 for doing them for full timers, pro rata for part timers.

In the new deal NO rugular postie will do the lot as every one will be payed the same.
So as a rest day cover you WILL be doing some,it works out 16% every day so on each walk you cover you will do 16% of it.

Part timers will have to do them as well but will only get payed pro rata.

Hello mate you should be doing your 20% of d2ds on every turn you do if the full timer is doing them all then your being robbed of money.
If this deal gets in you will more then lickly be doing a full set of d2ds every day on every turn you do pro rota money though of course.

I imagine that, under the new system there will have to be a matrix prepared for each frame so that day off cover staff will know which part they are responsible for on any given day. If you have a good relationship with the guys you cover it might be worth sorting out a system that avoids doing them on saturdays for any of you unless it is a saturday specific item agreed with the customer This may mean that when it is your saturday off then you will deliver all the dtd's for that week on the other days but it will be worth it to keep the load lighter on a saturday.

A major sticking point with me.I'm supposed to get less now as I didn't prep them, but I've still to deliver them 6 days a week?
Example: my day off was lapsed and no one did the 20%,so I agreed to do the extra and get paid an extra 20% over and above (council news letters + two others so it was a nice earner).

I got my wage slip today,£45 I was paid for them. And I'm expected to vote to get about £8 a week if I'm lucky?

That will be shining.

I can't wait to see them try to organise 6+ door to doors over 6 days by at least two postman. I bet it'll be a nightmare trying to work out whats already been done, and trying to share the load safely. What about day specific ones? Surely if they have to go out on a wednesday, it'll be to the whole walk, not just part of it? Won't that posty be sick when he has to do 100%?

i was at the meeting today in manchester and from what i could gather d2d will be incorporated into the delivery span so if a walk gets 6 d2d you will go to 100% of the delivery point on the walk on a daily basis walks are now planned on calling to about 75% on a delivery route apparently it about protecing jobs!!!!

No, call rates will still be based on a percentage of D2Ds delivered daily.

Shepherdess, that's what was said on here by either Dingo, Lovejoy or The truth, can't remember which. So either they're wrong or your branch is. Personally I'm more inclined to believe the branch is wrong. As the supplement is across the board for deliveries then surely everybody on delivery is responsible for delivering a share of D2Ds? If they're to be delivered on the basis of 1 per day and 100% call rate then this would only be possible when there's exactly 6 items per week. It's also highly unlikely that RM would want 100% call rates.

Many part timers arrive in our office - and I assume the vast majority of offices are the same in this regard - and have to finish prepping their walks. Be it flats, packets, re-directions etc. Now tell me, what do you think will be the last thing to get prepped?

I am part time on a 35 hr. contract. I prep 1 delivery (as much as time allows), before fully prepping my own delivery. So I will be prepping at least my own door to doors, and perhaps those of another delivery, as well as delivering to my 600 drops, yet recieve less money from the supplement than many of my colleagues, many of whom wont even touch a single door to door. That is the reality of the situation. Pro rata and payment to staff not delivering stinks.
