could someone explain to me if this was some kind of threat ,surely if they put six or seven in one envelope and treated it as one then we would still be paid by the weight of the item without the hassle of preping them

This is how Ward and co are trying to sell this by saying that RM wanted to put them in one envelope and then just pay us 1.67p per envelope, so there saying look what we've got for you instead a £20.60 supplement, except this or you will lose even more. Can't see how d2d's would go in one envelope anyway as they come in all different shapes and sizes and what about the council newspapers which members deliver, i think you could ask any delivery person and he would tell you the same that the one envelope system is a non starter.

Further negotiations are to take place on this, this is not going to happen at the moment. If RM want this to be a possibility then call rates on geo-route would have to go to 100%, which i can't see RM being to happy with so can't see it happening.

6 D2D in one envelope would be 3.5p each, like the magazines we sometimes get are. On a 600 drop walk that equates to £21 a week, more than the proposed supplement and you'd still have your shift allowance on top. Not to mention you'd only have one item per house instead of god knows how many to p*ss around with.

Under the current system 3.5p is limited to 80g and 4p to 100g. This would be quite restrictive if 6 or so leaflets were going to be packaged into one D2D. Personally I would rather see a limit on overall weight rather than number of D2D. Last week I had over 120kg of D2D on my walk.

id be interested to see how many firms would pay for their d2d to be sealed out of sight with others in an envelope that could easily be thrown in the bin without even being looked at. as someone else has said its a non starter as far as i can see.

Ours come in at 1.67p mostly, even the Red cross one with cards & a pen were under 3p.

They can't go in one envelope as the people advertising wouldn't want it, as the consumer can dispose of them all in one go and ignore them. Why pay "x" ammount to have your advert hidden in an envelope with 4/5 other ones, when prepping D2D's they are supposed to seperate when pushed thru the letterbox are they not? not tucked tight into one another so the outside one stands out? Just a thought.

The D2DS will definitely not be packaged in one envelope. No advertiser will pay for that. They will all come seperately. What you will find is the vast majority of D2DS will have to be delivered on Fridays and Saturdays. That's a definite. And just think of all the great D2DS we would get on Christmas eve advertising boxing day sales. If we're lucky all the men with children might get home in time to wrap their childrens christmas presents before sleeping till 6pm on Christmas day. Give it a little while and they'll be asking " Mum have you and my dad seperated? I've not seen him for weeks." :D

20-35g 1.75p
35-60g 2.7p
60-80g 3.5p
80-100g 4p

There is a limit of only one 80-100g item per walk per week. We have one these nearly every week since we have two monthly magazines plus half a dozen quarterly ones. Makes for a lot of weight if you have 500+ calls.

the d2d could be in one envelope,we have had them before,it cotained 8 items and had delivered by royalmail on the envelope.

One of the 3 said,i think it was them that there would eventually be a special envelope that opens up when posted through a letter box and fans the flyers out,so they will not be all together as such.
Apparantly they use this in the continent.

They'll NEVER come ready prepped in an envelope, the best we can hope for is they actually give us the time to prep them into our frames (but I doubt it ).
