MAIL VOLUMES DECREASING?

We all received a letter from the union regarding the deal over the last few days, i noticed the union was now stating in this letter that mail volumes are decreasing. Have they now seen and verified all the figures on traffic as they have always contested the issue stating R.M would not furnish them with the relevant traffic figures to proove the decline?.... As a delivery worker i ain't seeing much of a decrease personally but would just like to know now they are towing the R.M party line....

Have to say,in my place they are,not as much as RM figures say as we've been counting,but they are.

It makes complete sense that during this global recession which has hit the UK quite hard mail volume will decrease - especially buisness mail. However this flat economy won't last more than another few years and then we will expect a significant increase in mail volumes.

The National Briefing stated that CWU do not wholly believe the figures supplied by RM and would ideally like them independently audited, but RM are never going to agree that. So there is a general acceptance that mail is decreasing without being able to establish a verifiable figure on the percentage decrease.

Every time i tip a tray of flats at the ips about a third of it is letters, it never used to be until the mail started declining.

There's a bit of a problem with this much trumpeted bit of the agreement. I know it has been hailed as a major plus point, but have you stopped and asked yourself how many jobs it will protect?
Then ask yourself , how many jobs will go because of the removal of the 3.5hr delivery span.

I tend to agree with that.

After all what does "Protecting full time jobs" mean. It could mean

1. All current FT jobs are secured for the foreseeable future.
2. The FT jobs of those left after the agreement will be filled to capacity, thereby protecting them.
3. Royal Mail will employ FT posties somewhere in the organisation.

Nowhere in the agreement can I see where is defines which of the 3 RM and the CWU have signed up to even the 75/25 split is unclear as it could be 75/25 of 10,000 staff or 1,000,000 (as if )

What no one seems to acknowledge is the fact that this countrys population is increasing all the time. These people will get post and what about new build housing. I presume they will have occupiers!
