The 75%/25% fulltime parttime split

Is this a national figure across the whole of RM i wonder? In our office its 60/40 split and we have been told there is no chance of any part timers being made full time.

Yes its nationwide as a whole, not office and I know this will not be popular but most of the full time jobs WILL be held in London.

That's because London DO's have resisted the introduction of PT Delivery staff so far.
But if this agreement is accepted no doubt London RM management will try to impose PT delivery staff.
There are PT processing staff in the London MCs - about 30% in mine I think.

If we sign this agreement off as is, the 75:25 split is as likely to stay in place as the 3.5% pay rise in 2012...

when you read the agreement and they talk about the 75%/25% split you must remember to add the LOCAL AGREEMENT to the equation, this will mean that the vast majority of offices will never achieve 75% full time.

Can anyone tell me who is going to monitor the split nationally? RM, CWU, ACAS or are they just words on paper - no prizes for guessing. It is totally pie in the sky and why is that? - because in order to sustain full time employment you have to justify it by having the workload - now some may say yes well the influx of D2D will make up for the loss of hours to walk sequencing machines - but that is an indeterminate and cannot possibly justify the claim of a 75/25 split.

None of this agreement truly stands up to any sort of scrutiny and is really an insult to an intelligent workforce. To take four months to produce this it beggars belief.

Well as the only member of the goup of three (RM, CWU, ACAS) who can produce the figures required to determine the FT/PT split,i guess we will have to trust Royal Mail on that one.

"The mix of full time and part time is planned to be around three quarters full time and one quarter part time by 2013. The exact ratio will vary locally depending on the current local mix, needs and employee preferences."

And it is only PLANNED to be AROUND 75/25 by 2013.
Carved in stone it is.......not.

I take it that the 75ft / 25pt split will be across the whole of Royal Mail, not just in individual offices.
The split in my office is 55ft / 45pt but we have been told we will have to implement more office cuts.
I'm pretty much next in line to be made up, but I'm not very hopefull of it eve happening.

This is possibly another failing of the agreement what does the 75%/25% FT/PT spilt really mean. If its national or local TBH it makes no difference.

At present we have about 70,000 in deliveries I believe, lets use that as a starting figure. Now the CWU and myself would like the 75/25 split to be on that so that 52,500 would be FT and the rest PT.

However I shudder when I think the real target would be a 75/25 split on say 60,000. In that case then RM would not need to make anyone up as the target would be met by redundancies and natural wastage.

They won't make anyone up. There are already DO's clearing mail with a 50/50 split, now why would they choose not to extend that?
