Questions for area reps briefing??

Post by cantbelieveit's... »

Anyone got any question they want asked at the briefing tomorrow??
I'll start it off:

How are we supposed to plan duties when the amount of d2d's can change from one week to the next, with no cap??

Why are we expected to take a pay cut??

Why did you agree to a loss of all current shift allowances which means most employees will be worse off overall?
Will you be taking a pay cut too?

Simple question really;

The talks were intended to prevent the bullying of Members into unworkable changes to their conditions, cuts to jobs and hours and no rise in pay. Could you therefore please explain in order that we can pass this on to our colleagues which of those issues have now been resolved, and how?

Why are they not challenging the DSA system? If, as Billy says, we are losing 2p on every downstream item why is the union not addressing this problem?

Does the union not appreciate that we want to work for a first class mail service not compete with schoolkids and illegal immigrants to see who can provide the cheapest delivery service for the local pizza parlour? Is that all they think we are capable of?

EXPLAIN THE RATIONALE (AND LEGALITY) BEHIND MAKING D2D PAYMENTS PRO-RATA SO THAT FT AND PT EMPLOYEES DOING THE SAME WORK ARE BEING PAID DIFFERENT AMMOUNTS.

i was expecting unfortunately a worsening of my terms and conditons of employment but how did the negotiators manage to achieve a reduction in my take home pay so successfully? and also at the same time get an increase in my overall workload? :roll: we should maybe send them on exchange to Israel

Simple

DTD is in workload, so therefore whilst the type and breakdown of work may vary from duty to duty in a delivery office, all OPG's will work their paid work hours. Everyone will have the same hourly rate that makes up basic pay so there is no being paid different amounts for the same work. The supplement contains shift allowance money and traditionally the majority of PT were on a lower paying shift or not even holding a entitlement due to start time or emploment date. I moved to 5.30 start which was the same start time for all PT prior to the later starts of 2007 coming in when i had my buy down of hours so therefore moved to the lowest paying shift, the supplement for my D.O thererfore takes into account that ALL PT in place in 2007 had lower shift money that FT. The supplement is being paid out of the existing money for early shift allowance and DTD, were as the correct postion for the CWU to have taken was to pump new money into it and do away with pro rata and for those still starting betwen 0401 and 0530 give them a wee bit more .

So explain why an ex- phg working in the locker who does no D2D keeps his PHG allowance (Grandfather rights) but also takes a share of the D2D money. Or how a Firms Driver will keep his Driving Allowance (Grandfather rights) but still be entitled to his share of D2D money, but an AG who actually does go out and deliver D2D only gets pro rata. if it's not discriminatory it is morally wrong for the negotiators to have come up with such a s**t supplement.
Why not leave the ESA with those that had it(Grandfather rights), higher or remove the cap on D2D but keep the remuneration as is conference policy. when that was passed how may thought it would end up like this.

Are the election papers going to count in this D2D agreement? They were always stand alone before, but what I'm hearing now, they will be included with the £20.60 (prorata).
