Interesting bits plucked from the "Agreement"

Post by dropbag_clone »

Reading through the first 44 pages of the (leaked) agreement one or two observations on the content:

CWU reps being able to play an active role in Work Time Listening and Learning sessions.
This will be an interesting development. Especially if you have either weak CWU representative, or no CWU rep.

CWU representative will meet weekly as part of the planning, implementation and review. Each meeting will be diaried at the start of the revision process. Information and updates will be shared with the CWU representative and manager in advance of the meeting. Outputs, actions and relevant information will be shared with colleagues in delivery unit and displayed on a weekly.
I cannot remember the last time relevant information was shared with colleagues in our DO. More of finding things out via Chinese whispers. Thank goodness for this forum.

Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least one in four Saturdays off for the majority of the employees including reserves during the roll out of the operational transformation.
What happens after the roll out? So far I have seen two ways of achieving this in a DO. A 4 day week system, or Tue to Fri for full timers and Sat and Mon covered by part time staff, any other formats?.

This approach represents a fundamental change to the way delivery duties are constructed
So there you have it. The end of the three and a half hour delivery span. Get ready for those longer days out on the streets.

All delivery revisions will be planned on the basis of no use of private cars. Private cars will cease upon the deployment of a delivery methods revision in a unit.
Goodbye to delivery staff subsidising the Royal Mail in getting the mail delivered. Let’s hope this is achieved in all offices soon.

There are lots more bits and pieces in the document worth picking out, but with so many pages you can only spend so much time reading it before weariness kicks in. Best chewed in small bites, after all this agreement took 3 months to cook up, and we could be digesting its results for years to come.

My feeling is that the reps are going to be co-opted into becoming enforcers of RM policy. I'm on p29 of my second reading of the agreement and still picking bits out. What a way to spend a Sunday!

i like the sound of that if it was the way they would go about it, doubt it though

I'm guessing your not part time then!
