When The agreement is officialy realeased,I think I will send a copy to The Plain English Campaign.

It is a Poorly written Document regardless of what is in the agreement.
Considering its come from the COMMUNICATIONS UNION,and its meant to be going to every member in the country to read it .

Its is full of words such as enabler ,to mean unlimited delivery time.(who came up with this phrase ,not the Dictionary meaning of the word )

The whole Document is full of gobbledygook, jargon and misleading information.

Also the Document is not complete.
The section on Standards,everyone being in the top 10% of what ?

To my reading the document presentation is as bad as its contents.

You would have expexted the COMMUNICATIONS UNION to produce a document that its average member can read easily and understand easily.

This document Really does deserve a award for being one of the worst documents in gobbledygook.

If the Document Was written in Plain English ,as it could easily be ,would the members not fully understand its contents and theirfore vote against it,but a nice complicated hard to understand document,that is recomended by Reps WILL GET VOTED YES!!

The words MAJORITY and VAST MAJORITY occur frequently in the agreement.

MAJORITY is defined as more than half so when a condition applies to the majority of staff it might only apply to 51%.

Consequently, the condition might not apply to 49% of those staff.

So 'Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least one in four Saturdays off for the majority of the employees' could be interpreted as 'Royal Mail and CWU will make no effort to provide more Saturdays off for 49% of the employees'.

And how should VAST MAJORITY be quantified - 66% or 75% or 90%?

Why don't our national negotiators replace these imprecise words with numerical values that make life easier for the office reps on the front-line.

Give us NUMBERS not the nonsense that is the English language!
