10% of Workforce off sick!

We have 10% of the workforce currently off sick!

Is this the shape to come? as more of us fall victim to the job?

Never mind the holidays to cover, and the "lapsing" almost every day.

The Line Managers are being forced to tak walks out as there is no cover.

Any "spare" staff are being sent out to cover other DOs, 2 to one DO for over 2 months! we must have 8 jobbed out to other areas!

Why can't we keep our own staff to cover our DO problems!
Answer: if we did then there would be no "lapsing" plus it makes our DOM look good for helping other DOs. Talk about crawling your way up the RM ladder of success!

I wonder if the 'costs' of these employees have been transferred from your DO to the ones where they are now working? I would imagine so.
Perhaps, this will allow your DOM to stay within his budget for this financial year and qualify for his bonus? No doubt, you will want to help him achieve this.

i see an increase in workers off sick...
we've had quite a few replacements from other do's and mc's to cover walks.
the dom has had it up to the neck...want people to do other walks on o/t

the way things are going more workload, unreasonable expectations, peeps jogging/running round to get job done to save a few minutes. can only lead to injury and sickness

is it any wonder we have a high pertcentage of sick.......this week i have been doing lapsing and all the freakin letter boxes are at the bottom....my back's killing me!!!!!

Recently ,does seem a rise in increase in sick,often work related,bad back ,leg,knee or ankle .

This is before the new rounds come in!

Your going to see a sharp rise in sickness levels when the 4.30 - 5.00 hrs walks are rolled out. People will still start before their time and rush around to make a little time at the end of the duty instead of pacing themselves and taking a proper break half way through.

25% of our office either off sick or on rehab/light duties :(

About 10% off sick in my office too (and that's not counting those they IHRd in the past few months) and looking around the office it sometimes looks like a casualty ward on a Saturday afternoon (lots of limping because of bad knees, feet, legs etc.) plus at least 3 with hernias that'll have to go into hospital to get fixed leading to more off sick.

Royal Mail should do what my old employer did which was give you a £750 cash bonus at the end of the year if you had no more than 4 days off sick. They even allowed you to make the days up if you were off sick

id have to cutt off

also missed the odd one or two because my rest day has fallen on those days
