So anyway I was covering a round last week when we had the dreaded Sky Mags come in on Thursday (25th) and were given til Monday (1st) to complete them. I managed to do 425 out of 450 by Saturday and left the remaining 25 in the fitting for today for when the normal postman came back. When he came in he was very grateful that he only had a measly 25 left to do. However I went covering on a different round today where there were 500 Sky mags left untouched from last Thurs, and the manager expected me to do the lot today When I said no, that I did my quota last week and why should I do 900 Sky mags and other people do none, I was greeted by the manager's disgust, like I was too lazy to take them and that I have to do them tomorrow. Is there anything I can do about this?
Yes--this is one area that needs to be fixed out--far too many folks get the rough end of the stick---I particularly hate it when you come back from holidays to find all these mags, assorted catalogues, light bulbs etc. Managers always seem to lo
let you holiday or day of covers away with not doing them .

Yep, it's called working to your time. I told a manager once I can take the whole office worth of mail if you want, but I'll be finishing on time and bringing the rest back!
basically it doesnt matter how much you have to do, you only have to work your contracted hours.

500 sky mags!! Come on..... That must mean pretty much every house has one!! Are you sure there was 500 of them or did it just feel like 500?? In our office each round has a bundle of approx 80-100 each, nowhere near as many as they got once upon a time.

80-100 each!! unbelievable!
I put out our sky mags last week, and some rounds that have 700 drops, had probably 80% sky mags, even our smallest duty ( a proper rural) had 200 sky mags!

Ok maybe not 500, but I counted 19 bundles that had white plastic wrap on them and about 20 mags in each bundle so 380ish, also this round has 600 calls as its heavily terraced but still a backcracker on a bad day
Are they MS? Sky mags are crap, if you're a subscriber just call them and ask them to stop sending it. Unsurprisingly they will still charge you for it though, profiteering *****

Here's some good news for all of us in the near future... Me and the misses are Sky subscriber's and recieved a letter last Friday which at the bottom of the letter says come the summer-time Sky may stop sending out the Sky mags and also asking if we'd be happy to receive a e-bill rather than a bill through the post. I for one will be happy not having to deliver hundreds of these mags on a monthy basis, but what got me thinking is how much will RM lose in what is probably a lucrative contract with Sky, imagine 50% of customers sign up for a e-bill at the start of it, which will probably increase if there's a small discount of your monthly bill.
I came back off holiday to find the usual cover twats had left all the sky mags for me. So I told my line manager he had 4 choices:
a] Pay me an hours overtime and I would do the lot in one day
b] Pay me nothing and I would put in a handful each day til they were done, maybe completing them by the time the next lot came in
c] Give them to the twat that left them out and make them do them all
d] Stick them up his arse
