Did royal mail have a policy to recruit ex army or ex police?

are you one or is there alot in your office?
one day part timers will have the same right as full timers

I don't know that it was a policy as such but a lot of posties used to be ex-services.
I think when they came out of the forces the Royal mail seemed a good option. RM used to be a lot more regimented (which was like the army) and if you were used to marching, a delivery wasn't much different.
It seems to be different now. Although some posters on here are ex -forces I think there are probably less than there used to be.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This was true when i started in the late 1980's we had quite a few, Navy, Raf, Remi and not forgetting TA. Not so much now though we get allsorts :crazy:

It was the fact that Royal Mail recruited heavily from ex-forces that stopped me from applying earlier in life. I just thought there would be no point i.e I wouldn't be considered.
