we have been planning to go part park and loop for many months with the pegasus man rejigging the walks for the purpose. Last week however our dom said we won't be going ahead as it has many flaws and is doomed to failure

sounds about right!!! we have been told ALL our bikes are going to be replaced with trollies and vans!!

I was thinking about this park and loop rubbish and I just can't see it working. The only thing working which I could see was if they replaced my bike with a trolley and instead of me cycling for 30 mins to my walk I get dropped out with the driver either with the trolley or to a drop point where the troll stays then get a lift back or bus back once done. Not having to go back to the drop point each time to get a bag would speed things up a little I suppose but then a bus back costs money and would there be anyone to give me a lift back at 2pm? . I dunno seems like a lot of hassle for bugger all gain to me

We have been told we will have to walk to our rounds pushing the trolly!! So a 15 minute ride out will turn into a 30 minute walk!! Times this by two their and back and you have 1 hr of dead time just walking back and too!!

Oh no, bettter not introduce this in our office! I would have to push the trolley along main roads, (No pavements)
Would I have to then stop at all the traffic lights, and give way at the roundabouts? What a load of tosh.

You can only use a trolly where there are pavements not on the road.

These are the sort of safeguards the CWU will be looking for before giving their blessing to park and loop which in turn will be part of the new agreement.

The nearest our office has got to Park & Loop is 2 in a van, the driver conveys the passenger out to their start then has to do the bag drops and large pkts/specials for the passenger. The driver then has to do their own walk/packets/specials. One of the duties I do the driver only has 4 less drops than the walker but is expected to do all the other work within the same time. Its a crock of s**t! We've still a few convey drivers left but they are due to go soon.

All our town deliveries are Park and Loop, except 2, we had them enforced by EA last March. Deliveries are 4 and half hours long. Very hard going on a busy day. Only good thing about it is you definitely carry less weight, but the delivery is an hour longer.

Was it not said that HCTs will only be used for walk starts within 1 mile of the office? The 'Golf' trolleys are intended for replenishment use out of a van.

We have a hct but they couldn't give us to becasue to get to the other delivey has a section with no pavement so they still have the bike.

Yes I think it was mentioned by one of my colleagues but the DIM just started mumbling and saying he wasnt aware of that! Also go mentioned was what if you walk "starts" within the 1 mile but goes outwards from the delivery office. We have a round that starts about 1/2mile from the office but extends and finishes about 3mile away from the office!!!

The DIM reply was "errrrr I dunno"!

ours is due to start in april and the revised walks have been put on the notice board. mine comes out at 3h 56m to do the round and all the packets off the van that currently delivers my oversized ones. my round takes me four hours now!! and considering rm work on a van delivering 20 parcels an hour me think somehow the georoute has fooked up!!!

Same in our office - we have 3 hct`s - 2 electric and 1 manual , but the 2 electic have been broke for about 2 months now!!!
all other rounds are park and loop - and have been for about a year now (EA). and yes i agree it takes the weight off the shoulder but everything else about it does not work as it should - hopefully they will sort this out soon!!!
