It's a fake. That one has puncture resistant tyres, while everyone knows Royal Mail cycle tyres are designed to puncture at the mere sight of a thorn bush.

Well you shouldn't be - the life expectancy of the RM 92 was 7 years, then followed the Millenium also a 7 years life expectancy followed by the Mailstar which has had its life expectancy extended to 10 years, presumably to cover the transition from cycle to HCT. There was an LTB that was giving cycle mechanics the responsibility of saying if the cycle was fit for purpose after its normal span and they could probably last for years BUT we couldn't get the spares for them.

I just wonder how you manage to get the spares for them, I couldn't even get spares for the Millenium - we had 52 or 54 maybe a few more and we are now down to 12 of which only 8 are in use, all mailstars and all under 10 years old. Bikes pretty much went out of vogue when the 2nd delivery was dropped, almost everyone used a bike for the 2nd delivery in town.

The last time I ordered them, through a manager of course, including some replacement tools there was a very frosty reception from the guy responsible - I think the total spend was £1200, not a lot considering I tend to order just once a year and in 6 years I hadn't had a new tool. I think they are trying to restrict expenditure because of the soon to be demise of the cycle delivery.

As if they don't have enough problems, what with AIDS and starvation and genocides and such. Now they have to deal with our shitty bikes!
