Choosing vans

My van is shite amd not good enough for my rural,one of the Ford 4 by 4s would be ideal.Is there a way i could stop myself getting a Combo as a replacement and get the Ford,Cheers.

yes I was amazed when I saw RM have 4x4's in the courier and I would imagine not in a pig in hells chance

Thats cos we have proper hills and dirt tracks up here in Yorkshire - The bloke in the article is a satellite office of Huddersfield.

Simple, drive like a tw@t and cause damage to the combo, get it repaired, then more damage. :crazy:

Then demand a vehicle fit for the purpose!! :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

I've been doing this for years and still failed to get a decent vehicle - oh well. :Boo hoo!

Incidently, rumour has it, Barnsley (south yorks) has ordered 50 new vans for 'park & loop' GOD the expense!!!!!! :left:

WE HAVE THREE OF THE FORD RANGER 4/4'S AT MACCLESFIELD. TOO BIG FOR THE JOB, BUT THATS ROYAL MAIL FOR YOU. THEY MUST HAVE GOT A JOB LOT!!!!!

We've got the combo's. I must say we do the park and loop. Dunno where they got the vans from but mines had, door locked and wont open (back door), van wont start du to electrical problems. This after just a few weeks with one.

Question for people yet to use the vans. When we did ours, by the way we went on strike over this for 4 days "Unofficial". We got zero backing from anyone. Sort of
pissed me off when i see people bitching about it now. If it was attacked back then as no national agreement on this we may have done some good. But thats another story. Anyhow, how do people stand if they refuse to drive as the driving license is ours not rm's?
far as i know i started rm as a delivery guy using a bike. How can rm insist you use a van, and what if heaven above you lose your licence, what happens then?

I know you have them at Macc Dognash ive seen them when ive took my combo in to be fixed by The happy Geordie downstairs in the workshop.I also saw onein Rainow a few weeks back.I WANT ONE.

You can refuse to drive but with park and loop a non-driver will have fewer options in a re-sign

couldn't agree more, but with 20 odd rural deliveries some of the combos/ connects were falling apart!!!!

No, that doesn't work.
Terrain so rough that the Combo's virtually wrecked after a couple of years and breaks down most days in a week and they still don't replace it. :sad:

Have not had a decent van for about 10 years since the day they took my escort away and gave me a bloody french heap of shite, combo's probably the best of a bad bunch at present, had an astra hire van over christmas, now that was a nice drive.
