Lapsing is back

Well as from next week we have been told that we are lapsing 2 dutys 3 days a week (mon-wed) each person f/t and p/t will do it at least 1 day and get roughly 30-40 mins delivery to make up for indoor workload as there is less mail to be sorted and more walk sorted. well thats what they say. lol
Is this happening anywhere else?

Lapsing is back!!!!
Its never been away for around the last 2 years in my office, apart from the odd, "manager says its quiet",saturday!!!
Our alleged management figures states that we are one of the busiest offices, top 5, in our country. Go figure!! I get the feeling our office must be subsidising the 29 hours "pressure o/t" that Tooting got last Christmas.

Dont know why but our DOM is trying to get cover for the lapsing walks next week by means of O/T very strange and hes allready asking people in our office.

I will only lapse were time permits simples

one duty down today 1 off sick manager prepped delivery then asked if anyone could help by taking some of it out (by passed union rep)
no one took him up on his offer

we lapse every day including saturday!!!! and have fone for the last year at least. expecting to be lapsing at xmas this year too!

Unless, somebody starts before their time, rushes around like a blue-arsed fly in the mistaken belief that there is still such a thing as job 'n' knock, and never takes their meal relief, I don't understand how people can do part of a lapsed walk, as well as their signed for duty. You see, the key component of that bit of the shyte pay & modernisation deal to do with lapsing are the words, "when time allows", give the lazy lard-arses we have for managers your time, they'll give you extra work to do, so don't.
Don't forget, the lapsing they want us to do, would have been overtime, if you wanted it, not so long ago.

You're assuming the workload is the same in every office. It isn't though, nowhere near. Personally I can't see how the offices that still have night staff and only do 20-30mins IPS a day can seriously say they haven't got time to do it.

If you start at 6 and are off IPS for 6.30 that gives you 7 hours to prep and deliver (plus 40 mins break). Not a leg to stand on unless you slow time.
