Streaming of mail

this is how it goes in our office

mailsort out first
if thats not enough
then 2nd class
then DSA mail


the next day is when it gets interesting if you are streaming daily

This is a new tactic being used in several DO's and its because of walks that are too long and not enough staff to cope with the mail volumes and to try and prevent cut offs, so in the past managers and other staff from DO's have been drafted in to complete deliveries.

Managers are basically getting fed up of doing walks so streaming was introduced! It makes no difference to members of staff, if the next day is too then stream again.

Resulting in delay of mail - customers suffer and its all down to CUTS!

It's a tactic but it's not new,It's been going on for years.
The real point of it is to crank up the pressure a notch.
You stream out the mailsort,it takes you 5 mins and you look at the frame, your no better off and you have all this mailsort for the next day.
So the next day you keep your mouth shut like a good little boy.
That's the management theory behind it.

so you must have an incredible ability to stream your walk so that it takes you exactly to your time, a hard task,
and they want you to just stream one part of your walk so someone can take it out and deliver it? yeh like thats going to happen.me , i just stream all over.also i stream DSA mail before 2nd class,as its less important

be careful,the DIM's go through my streamed mail every day to check what i stream
they would love to wilful delay me with a 1st class letter in there
i have a van so just take extra packets and stream plenty
if i finish early then i do packets ot my finish
though im getting quite good on my stream/pace

When I need to stream,...If it's stamped, PPI or franked it gets delivered, if i'm busy anything else waits, any point with mailsort only gets left, I stream blocks of my walk as I need to, that saves a bit of time

well if like me you are working to your time it doesnt matter
i can take out whatever they like(as i have told them)
the main issue for me is what happens to a postie who streams to what they judge is enough ot complete in time
but ends up with too little/too much
too little and its wilful delay on what you left
too much and they will giv you the same if you cut
