overtime while the snows here

just a quickie question. Yesterday due to the adverse weather conditions, no deliveries went out of our office. The manager said that if we wanted we could leave the mail but take it over the next two days, but not book overtime. One of the posties was on a day off yesterday so knew nothing about the "deal" so she came in today and said she would have to book overtime today as there was more than the normal daily amount of mail. She was told that she was not allowed to get any overtime for this. What should she do.

If you work over your time you book the overtime,it's that simple.
This "deal" is just another form of banked hours.
You should ALL have told him to shove his "deal" up his a*rse.

We are being given the line that ' all the backlog has to be cleared for free'

I don't think this is right and in my opinion they cannot make you work extra for bugger all.

I might have to do something I have not done before and cut off at my time. If they will not pay me for extra work the I wont do it.

Did he know it was her day off yesterday - though it does not actually matter it would put a different light on it. In the end even using RMs clawing back of hours she was not in and owes no hours therefore under their made up rules she can claim.

This kinda thing happened to me last year due to bad weather on my day off. It was fine once i had explained the situ 3 times to my dom. I cleared the mail and booked 1.15 min OT.

We've been booking in our office and we're still not clearing the backlog. If they stopped o/t in our office a fair number would work to their time and nothing else, I know I would and I would sit back and watch it pile up even more!

its simple really, tell your dom if you cant book OT you cut off. Dont go over your time unless he agrees before hand you can book it, if you go over your time without agreeing this 1st then dont be suprised if he says no after.

for the record we had the same problem so i sent back 7 bags of mail when it got to my finish time today. It goes something like this guys, if you let them take the pi ss out of you then they will.

last week we were told no o/t . then surprise surprise this week they are begging us to do it, just to clear backlog,but still yorks of packets,mail everywhere still can't do it.some people do o/t , some work to time,WHAT A MESS! manager hasn't a clue what to do. no more room in office to put it!!!!!

Just ask your manager before you go out if he/she wants you to complete your round today with hours over paid, or if you should bring bags back and finish on time.

We have a huge back log in our office. Nobody has said to me that we won't get paid OT, so I have booked my time.

I had 11 bags/pouches today and finished my round at 4pm. That's with a sack of packets still left on my frame that I didn't take out.

No way am I dragging 2 bags at a time (11 in total) on a golf trolley in snow/ice pavements for free.

Was there not an LTB recently stating that any clawback of hours, owing to non-delivery because of adverse weather conditions, as not part of any agreement so cannot be applied. It is also true that we do not 'bank' hours as this was part of phase 4 (the unagreed phase of Pay & Mod Agreement).

I can't access the members section as it appears to be down to link the LTB.

They are so in the s**t in my office they are wanting people to come in on Sunday, no fecking chance after the way they treated us last week. Of course the usual grabbers will put their names down.
