Packets, packets & more packets...

Our DOM's a right f*cking A*se - weeks ago we were told that if Packets double up or treble up and so on for the same address then bundle them up and put them in the appropriate york for a driver to deliver, low n behold this week and no doubt next week comin we are being stood over and told to take out every packet even the ones that double/treble up or more.. f*ck a had 7 packets of Amazon for the 1 house and was refused to put them in a york, seriously along with the mail were the f*ck are you meant to put them in your bag, along with the other packets too..

As an ex postieItook the bug bucks some 5 years ago. You will never win at RM as its so full of heirachy. I may be using old terms here so bear with me.
The AG's looked down on the casuals , the full time posties looked down on the ag's, the drivers looked down on the full time posties, the PHG's looked down on the posties , ag's and drivers but all uniform grades hated the gaffer.

Theres a business model thats going to work!! RM will go down in the next 5 years and be re-branded with some privitised name. You only have yourselves and management to blame.

All i can finish with is , RM robbed me of a better life for 16 years. I thought i couldn't do anything else. On the way out a senior manager told me i would never get a job like this again.

2 questions i always ask in threads like this,wtf is the rep doing about it,and wtf are the drivers doing about it,why has this been allowed go on,this would never happen at my place and i'm a driver.

I feel another drivers v walkers/walkers v drivers shitting on each other answer is on the cards!

Another question that comes to mind is wtf are people doing taking these big packets. You can either fit them in your bags or you can't. If you can fit them in then take them.If you can't, then when your bags are packed up take them to the manager and tell him if he can fit the packets in you'll take them.

I was told last week not to throw anything at the driver so i took everything that was in my 5 full packet bags. I had 13 poches in all and only delivered 6 as i had to keep going back to the bag drop and fill cards out every 5 mins.

I cut off 7 bags. Mental innit, but who gives a s**t. Bad management of resources imho.

A lot of that is true - sounds like a typical DC or APC , some of it was deliberate divide and rule by Management . You can also add the unofficial Gaffer's " union " versus the staff and the CWU , playground stuff .

However is it deliberately meant to look unmanageable ? - you could argue there's bad feeling going back to failed Privatisation's in the 90's and team working being thrown out with some managers .

Now it's the worst of the private sector with very top down Senior Mgt autocratic and negative style and the worst of the mini civil service , old school RM .

Drivers vs walking staff has always been the case. Nobody wants to be sh*t on. Its human nature. I have to admit seeing some of the stuff posties throw out makes you laugh. It aint that it's too heavy in some cases; just that if they aint in then the walker doesn't wanna carry the thing around with them.

The reps job isn't to go around grassing other members up!

Too right the walker doesn't want to carry stuff round with him if the customer isn't in! That is the thing that so many drivers ignore. Two or three relatively small packets extra to carry along with the empty pouches you have accumulated can make the tail end of a walk really uncomfortable. Not all of us have the luxury of being able to leave empty pouches and undeliverable packets en route.

Lets just say the drivers have got it easier than last year if we're taking out more.. Union Rep & DOM are best of buddy's, Rep ain't got a back-bone he's just a YES MAN to the manager.. So Today was a joke - Mail, Parcels & Packets, plus the weather HEALTH & SAFETY would have a field day comin out on the majority of walks today and the rest of the coming week...! plus here's the best 1 - Working from 7am til 4pm non stop and told we're only allowed a 20 min Tea-break as 3hrs 10 mins is O/T and they don't need to give us an extra 20 mins as far as i'm aware 8hrs work equals 40mins break...?

It's also swings and roundabouts with this packet malarkey,drivers and walkers,we're our own worst enemy with this.
