Driving Allowance??
Hi, can anybody help, years ago when I was on driving duties I got a driving allowance in my pay, but not been driving for about 8 years, due to signing for a walk, but now due to ATOS, I have been put on driving duties and am a leave reserve driver, do they still have this allowance and would i be able to get it or not? Thanks for any input!

You should do - I transferred to a different office as a reserve driver and get paid about £27.00 driving allowance per week.

Nope,no driving allowance now for those who go back on driving or new drivers,except the high top allowance,which beinspired seems to get.

No I don't get it, still get early shift allowance though, some in our office who have been there longer than me [10 years] still get their driving allowance.

As far as i can remember , any one who was getting the allowance when it was scrapped still get it, if you come off driving you lose for good, even if you go back to driving again. The driving allowance for the LWBs or High tops is still paid, which is why our office has got rid of all it's LWB High tops.

our regular driver was off sick today ,so we had some trainee manager who only passed his driving test 5 months ago and some lackey doing drop offs and bags

we get it for driving any type of van - transits etc. Must vary from office to office.

If who find out? From what I can gather, certain offices get it even if they don't drive the high tops. I know an office that only uses transits - they told me the allowance is locally protected.

I asked the same question a few weeks back. In my office, you get the £27.50 for a lwb high top, but not a swb low top like I drive. I still get the £6 I've had for years (reserved rights).
I was always under the impression that driving allowance for new drivers was discontinued after The Way Forward agreement. Yet I know of at least one, maybe more, who are or have been in receipt of the full whack. Seems unfair when we are all doing the same job. I wouldn't mind, but after swapping from a walk to a driving duty at the last resign, I've obviously lost my door to doors, so have effectively taken a £20 per week pay cut to do an arguably more responsible job!

The £27.50 driving allowance is for driving a vehicle with plated mass between 3.5T and 7.5T
