Christmas pressure - wtf !!

Ours started last week.

We'd extra brought in early for IPS from last week plus a nightshift from tonight, which is a real change from last year when the 'pressure' didn't start until later.

Christmas pressure sort of starts tomorrow in our office, I've got a special duty clearing the packets until xmas, no doubt that will be changed and i'll be on a walk because we are so short staffed.

ours starts tonight proper but we had a night shift last week
heard managers had told the guys coming back for diversion sorting if there was no mail they would be sent home unpaid

Same here, I don't know about xmas pressure sa and ot but we had our xmas casuals starting last week, and Friday night we had one of the CFCs running for a while.

People are really lapsing at christmas?

We have 50 walks in our office, They try and lapse one in the summer and the line manager normaly ends up doing most of it.

ours started today,first letter away at 11.05 ffs,no lapsing (or mebbe it was a 1 off seeing as we were snowed under today,i dunno)

All our rounds were out early today - earliest for a very long time, with rurals getting out at 7.30!!! Towns had no missorts to do, so where also out when tied up and ready - so 8.00-8.30.

Reason being we had a few people doing a new early shift for xmas to do IPS and then if done on that throw off rounds - all the IPS was done before most people came to work. I was on the early shift and worked my full hours doing IPS, throwing rounds off for the walkers and PTers and then after that was done helped in the callers office. Daft thing is though, is that DOMs had some in early on OT doing IPS before their rounds, they got out very early and will of been back at least 2 hours before their time yet they will still get their 2 hours docket - not their fault, but bloody hell RM, that's crap business sense and crap management.

You think it can't get any worse can you? This time last year we have a few in on nightshift performing ips and prep, separate parcel deliveries, relief collections, the option to come in half an hour early and get paid for it and the choice to opt out of December D2D's.
Today we were panicking, complaining and generally bemoaning the ridiculous lengths RM will go to make that little bitty more profit. Only two on nightshift...next week, the insistence that we rurals continue with our parcels when we finish our main delivery...but only if we have time (you can guess how many didn't have time), mountains of mail, loads of packets and of course not enough staff to perform ips due to double prep, no relief collection rota (as and when) and one person to deal with this and parcels. Oh, just to add to the farce we have three lots of D2D's that we have to do (no opt out then?)...the mind surely boggles.
In his defence (I know this will offend some) our Dom is only following orders from high above and I feel for the man. 'But there is no lapsing today' he claims, almost desperately, as if we had the time to do any anyway?
