Priority Servives
I dont know about all of you but i'm getting sick to the back teeth of getting shouted at by customers when delivering reg and them saying that they have checked online and this item has already been delivered according to the Royal Mail website. This means that the reg cage has already confirmed delivery before the item has even reached its destination. This would therefore suggest to me that management are instructing blue shirts to commit "FRAUD"

That'll not be a problem when we all have to use PDAs

Re: Priority Servives
It's a very dishonest world we live in today, and businessmen have never been so dishonest as they are today, and we have one of the most dishonest men in Britain acting the role of chief executive, and his lack of moral leadership has led to management lower down the pecking order becoming almost a mirror image of the less than great man himself, and so we unknowingly carry out dishonest acts in our day-to-day duties.
It's called the knock-on effect.

I understand this citizen however we of the blue shirt do not and will not and even must not succumb to the bullying tactics of management, therefore expose those managers that are instructing us to perform acts of dishonesty on there behalfDirtyHarry wrote:It's a very dishonest world we live in today, and businessmen have never been so dishonest as they are today, and we have one of the most dishonest men in Britain acting the role of chief executive, and his lack of moral leadership has led to management lower down the pecking order becoming almost a mirror image of the less than great man himself, and so we unknowingly carry out dishonest acts in our day-to-day duties.

Re: Priority Servives
Whenever you use the PDA the item will be scanned in at the doorstep and then uploaded directly from there straight to the RM network and so there is no chance to scan things through fraudulantly.wolfie citizen smith wrote:not shore what you mean citizen please explain?DGP1 wrote:That'll not be a problem when we all have to use PDAs

Re: Priority Servives
Its common practise to confirm regs as delivered after the callers office is shut, except those that have been returned before the office is closed, the next day the items are updated as being returned to the DO, so the customer can get two different messages if checking on the two days, if that makes sense.

Re: Priority Servives
Any item you deliver after approx 12.45 will have been confirmed delivered otherwise it would fail the "before 1.00pm spec."
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Priority Servives
Surely some sort of "awaiting confirmation of delivery" message should be shown between despatch from the callers office and either confirmation of delivery or return to it.
That would be the honest way of doing things

Re: Priority Servives
It would but the system is crap.If something is not confirmed as delivered before 1pm it shows up as a failure, so in our office all the Specials are confirmed as delivered about 9am.It is not a question of being dishonest it is just working with the system. The alternative is for all posties to carry 2 priority service cards,to make sure all the Specials are attempted before 12.30 and ensure that card is returned to the office (via a driver) so the PHG can accurately record what has and has not been delivered before 1pm.Lounge Lizard wrote:Surely some sort of "awaiting confirmation of delivery" message should be shown between despatch from the callers office and either confirmation of delivery or return to it.

So it is just easier to confirm everything early and then reconfirm as undelivered, if necessary, later.
Of course the downside is the information the customer gets online is wrong, but if we started caring about the customer, God knows where that could lead.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Priority Servives
In our office, the drivers deliver all the Specials.
Before PDAs, we used to have to get them all done on our first run, which meant going over your route again later with the normal packets (or those left over that you couldn't pull in on the first). Any that came in late were confirmed before we left. One PHG (no such thing, I know, but I still think of the locker man as a PHG) used to ask us to ring or text any we couldn't deliver.
As said though, PDAs remove that problem.

Re: Priority Servives
I thought the tracker system said something along the lines of "Your item is currently out for delivery". The cage will then confirm it if the postie does not ring confirmation before the cage shuts at 12.45.
I NEVER confirm delivery of specials when on my round as they do not provide us with a mobile phone, freephone number or money to use in a phone box. Why should I pay? Of course I confirm it when I return to the office by handing in my white slip but by then they have already entered it in the system as delivered.
Our office also uses a text system for posties to confirm but even though I have hundreds in my mobile phone allowance I will not use any for work. It's unreasonable for RM to ask you to provide tools to do the job, especially when they have plenty of money to waste on bonuses for that idiot Crozier.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

Re: Priority Servives
p.h.g 's are instructed by orders from national level that all specials are confirmed by 12.45 , 9.00 am specials by ten, our bosses assume that we will all deviate from our route to make sure items are delivered on time and that we still finish our deliveries on time, the p.h.g will then update the records the next day when the posties hand in their delivery cards . totally unworkable system , as far as i remember the confirmation time is because of a demand by postcomm , they dont give a s**t that we are worked into the ground and are already working every minute of the day to finish our duties on time

Re: Priority Servives
Specials have to be confirmed by 1020 and 1420. Any not shown as delivered by then are classed as a fail. All specials should meet the 1300 target, if you cannot deliver by then it is the managers job to ensure that they do, not yours.
