At our office we are divided into groups of four or five, numbered 1 - 5, and asked to choose 4 weeks of the year. I am third choice in my group. I think it goes by longevity of service. I didn't get my preferred dates, but I got Easter.
I think its disgusting that RM tell us when we have to take our hols. This year I booked a week in August off to celebrate my birthday as me and the missis always go away for it. I couldnt get that so they gave me the nearest week to it I could have. Beginning of July Now they're tellin me when to celebrate my birthday it seems. We work long hard hours for RM they shouldnt be tellin us when we should be having holidays as well. You've got to put your hols down over a year in advance, how the f**k do you know what weeks you want off in over a years time, I've no kids so not really interested in just having half terms. I've worked at a lot of places over the years and not one of them do you have to do this for hols.

first 5 years hell?
wait for people to retire so i can move up the pecking order? hahah
wtf
You'll have what ever kind of life RM want you to have. Treating you how they like at work and effecting your home life with your hols. Probably make you take your yearly summer camping holiday in February or March. Sorry its the only time that was available. At least RM provide waterproofs and fleeces so it'll be alright. If the zip doesnt snap and the shoes and coat dont leak that is.
According to the Way Forward Agreement, Annual Leave allocation is supposed to
be rotated, so if you don't get your first choice this year, you should get it next year.
As a junior i got exactly what i wanted (go sick) have even rung in from abroad now iv'e no need as i'm way up the list but there are other avenues to obtaining holidays when you want them not just when your told you can have them...fcuk them
I ALWAYS have trouble getting the days off that i "need". Unlike most i normaly only need long w/e as my hobby involves going to car shows. Ive got a few people that are up for covering my round, the only trouble is when the manager needs them to cover "other" peoples rounds the same days i need.
The other route i used to take when denied full weeks off was to get "special leave" or "unpaid leave" Although these days thats nigh on impossible.
My manager is even refusing time off thats available next year wtf?!?!?
Think im gonna be "sick" next year.... "sick" of the job that is.
el_cartero wrote:so that means the last few in the door wont get a summer holiday for 5 yearsor so because instead of every year you getting your turn ?
your shafted bcos ur "new"
This is why I would never encourage to start at RM....all new starts get f****d about...!! We've all had to start at the bottom...so your no different..!! Do you think you should just come in off the street and get your pick of holidays before members who've spent years climbing the ladder....?
There is a right argument going in our office over holidays at the mo some of us have no holiday in the summer, some of us only have a week of the two we went for some have got all of what they want, the general feeling is that some of us are just going to go sick to get the other week we went for , it's ok though the managers have got what ever they want, they have their holiday they wanted and they go home on time and they get their long weekends which is more than our reserve staff or part timers have.No double standards in our place!

I'm always brassic, so my annual holiday is camping at the Bulldog with mates ( Thurs - Sun, 2nd weekend of August ) - but after 4 days of bikes, booze and partying, why am I expected to return to work on the Monday, or take the whole of the following week off? I managed to find someone this year that wanted that week & was prepared to work the Monday....but it was a c*nt of a job trying to get the DIM assist to grasp the concept of what was wanted

Spot on.
Annual Leave must be rotated.
Seniority CANNOT be used to determine annual leave.

So in effect, a lot of problems might arise due to pisspoor management using the path of least effort.....figures
