Had WTL this morning ,officialy told 2 men and a van ,park and loop and later start times all coming our way early Jan.

Many guys were shocked,as a forum member,this did not surprise me in any way,if any thing I have some respect for RM been telling us for months this is going to happen in JAN
and now it is.Unlike the CWU a toothless Tiger ,if that.!

Many staff are asking stupid questions like WHY DID WE GO ON STRIKE FOR AND LOOSE MONEY ?
OR WHERE IS THE UNION?

It would be nice to get a reply from some senior CWU people,I feel sorry for the local reps flogging a dead horse .
When is the CWU going to merge with RM,If not done so already ?

Or even better top CWU officials come and explain all this to the guys on the ground if they dare!

I know my local rep will go above and beyond to get things stopped but if the people above him dont support him what can be done?

This is all dependant on the success of walk sequencing.

But we had the same brief today some how i dont think its going to be a soon as JAN tho.

Hi i'm a rep its coming in my office spoke to area rep last week said there is nothing we can do to stop it, as for the staff its 50/50 50% said i they can get evr then bring it on, what i would like to know is is it national or local. my thinking is each office is on its own and the union nationaly are letting them do it, its the old saying everyman for himself. heres the best bit had a update today with the dim and tomorrow we have a young girl coming in to see how the office works she has no idea how deliverys work she has only worked in marketing and peoples futures depend on her says it all realy

we had this two men in a van proposal a couple of weeks ago. strange thing is the dim knew nothing about the later starts due to the walk sequencing machines

Surely van sharing hasnt been agreed, therefore cannot be implemented. Unless Bob Gibson has agreed it without telling us.

Someone said before in my old office that what if the 2 men/women doing the van share work at different speeds and ability that is going to cause conflict between the workers I can see problems with the van share thing, in my old office some ones are a lot faster than others and break the rules, i.e. looking at mail while walking and taking shortcuts over gardens climbing fences etc etc, but mr or mrs blogs on the other hand follows all H&S rules and does the job PROPERLY

Not in my office, it was 2 rurals plus extra delivery bolted together which resulted in duties taking 6 to 7 hours to complete and even with large quanities being taken off the duties they still take over their times.

There are a few issues with this

1.As you say performance although what would your motivation for cutting corners be?
2.Using pegasus/Geo-route for office revision.We would need agreement from the CWU and they are miles apart on this.
3.What to do with non-drivers.You need two drivers for park&loop/van sharing to work properly.
4.How do you square all of the different start times in a large office.
5.Single drop/business/rural deliveries.Impossible/unrealistic to van share.

We already have two in a van,this is just under{so they say} two walks plus all the packets and specials that a driver would normally deliver to that walks.And aye its caused problems because myself and others were threatened with transfer because we cant drive and after the resign there was no full time non driving duties left and ive been there 9 years!

these car/van derived deliveries were gonna be brought in with EA so the choice was vote for the duties and keep your seniority or vote for IA.Only 7 of us voted for IA.During the two days national strike our office had by far the best turn out in the city which i think tells a story.
