Area Rep Elections

Post by mitzi »

Is anybody else having elections for area reps?. The problem we have is that they are just names on a piece of paper, how do we decide who to vote for if they dont outline what they stand for in an election address. I know one or two of the names and have met one of the candidates but the others havent even been to our office. :cfo :mfo

I am sure my area rep was selected by RM management, every thing his office should not do ,like use cars ,scab during strikes happens, tough talking guy to the lads but on Management side .

His Deputy on other hand is tipped by many to go high and far if allowed by fellow activists ,after all look at Alan Johnson.

How long do they hold posistion for.

This might sound strange but when our elections came round I spent about 2 hours doing Google Searches - for example

Brian Little CWU - and then glance through any articles you find. In my experience the good reps and above are usually quite active on different websites and the will tend to appear on local news articles as well defending members interests. I=

It worked for me.

We have some very serious days ahead of us in this business and reps need to be prepared to put their asses on the line.
My vote will be for the rep with the biggest set of balls, not sure if a google search will tell me that though. :hmmmm
No I'm not being paranoid, they really are out to get me.
