i prefered the old thermal jacket, the one that you could zip the sleeves off .... it was a disgrace when they pulled them :cfo

Harringtons Good if its just a bit breezy and if gets colder I just put my storm coat over the top! Try that with a fleece underneath and it gets a bit too hot and difficult to move. If you dont want the bulk but feel the cold just try wearing a thermal type vest under your shirt and it stops the sweat chilling you. Harrington or a Fleece over that and your sorted. Dont bother asking your DIM cos he hasn't got a F***ing clue what its like outside his nice central heated/air conditioned office!

I hav'nt been with RM long enough that I have a harington but when the wind goes through the fleece it would freeze the baws off a brass monkey. Having the choice I would opt for the harington just to stop the wind cause as you say you're not working hard enough if you feel the cold.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The new Blue fleeces are crap, the older one from 2 years or so ago is far better, it's windproof and waterproof to a certain extent - I never wear any other coat than that since they were introduced, and am never ever cold.shadow wrote:I hav'nt been with RM long enough that I have a harington but when the wind goes through the fleece it would freeze the baws off a brass monkey. Re: Arctic Fleece or Harrington Jacket ??
The only thing the fleece is good for, imho, is going over my leather jacket, before I jump on my bike on a cold day ( might be ok for shooting - unless it starts to drizzle
)....oh and it has to be the old style with the cloth shoulders ( like an old donkey jacket ) and blue inside.....not they shitey one with the red inside.
For work, unless it's hosing it down, it has to be Harrington or bust - never seen any body warmers dumped with old uniform in a york / alt / skip

I have a waterproof jacket from Millets that I wear over my jacket but I then wear my Hi-Viz over the top so I can always say that I'm wearing my PPE.

Fleece jacket, If its cold i'll put a base layer thin fleece jumper underneath. If its really cold i'll wear my long pants instead of the shorts.

I do to, I have a peter storm mac in a sac kind of thing. I can have it on the bike without taking to much room. Plus I find them not as bulky and warm and sweaty as the stormproof.DGP1 wrote:I have a waterproof jacket from Millets that I wear over my jacket but I then wear my Hi-Viz over the top so I can always say that I'm wearing my PPE.

Re: Arctic Fleece or Harrington Jacket ??
Just a hint, in the cold just wear loose fitting layers, the air trapped within heats up and keeps you warm, tight fitting jackets and fleeces wont do the job!!
Ask Ray Mears
, he would agree!!!
