Royal Mail Discussions - Update
3rd November 2009

Talks between the CWU and Royal Mail continued at TUC headquarters in central London today, chaired by TUC general secretary Brendan Barber. Both the union and Royal Mail have agreed not to speak publicly about the detail of the discussions so far. Negotiations will resume at the same venue tomorrow morning and further updates will follow.

The two national strikes on Friday 6th November and Monday 9th November - involving all 121,000 members in Royal Mail letters - are set to go ahead as planned.

apparently the tuc has requested that both Royal Mail and the CWU did not make any statements to the media through this weeks talks.... that's why there has been no media coverage this week.

Maybe there is no news, because there are only so many times you can say "We met, talked, and made a little bit of progress." before everyone says "I'm bored - stop repeating what you said yesterday.....what's new?"
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

i think we will be out again as quite a lot of posties(even though they strike!)..are doing quite a lot of extended delivery or overtime when allowed, which is helping these w*****s and defeats the whole object of strike action! :arrrghhh

After all the Royal Mail rubbish that we've heard in team briefs and through our letterboxes this week I think they are gearing up for more strikes.

Spot on - their banking on the strike breakers increasing as the strikes go on - we must stay strong or we will be destroyed ! We stand not only for ourselves but for the rest of the countries industries ! This is a benchmark for all other firms and they are waiting with bated breathe for the results !
Your spot on with your spot on Jim- I feel if we lose this fight it will be the final nail in the coffin of all unions in the UK
This is a fight to the finish & we are well ahead on points
