friday-monday strikes pay issue

i do remember that during the last strike we had one o the last 2 dates were close together as the newly announced dates...last time they took pay off us for both strike dates in one weeks pay (i.e lost 2 days pay in one week) is this going to happen this time(2 days may be 2 much of a sting for most)

Not to us but definately to some.

As the wages are processed on a tuesday you WILL lose 2 days wages from one weeks wage Friday 13th to be exact

Branches will be aware of the continuing difficulties our members face in Royal Mail. CWU Headquarters is mindful of the severe problems our members face in respect to their own finances and in this regard the Union has established a National Hardship Fund to deal with members who are experiencing extreme difficulties. It will be understood that the governance of the Fund and the criteria established will need to be agreed.


However this LTB is to advise Branches of where they can send donations to the National Hardship Fund:

No this weeks IA will come out Fri 6th the 2 days strike (fri 6th%mon9th) will come out Fri 13th

To recieve money from the CWU Hardship a member needs to provide supporting documentation that the fiancial hardship is down to the strikes. It needs to then be supported by the Branch.

If an indivudual has been in financial trouble prior to the strikes then they would possibly recieve a payment by way of the CWUs national welfare fund.(not the hardship fund )

In London we have had to enforce strict guide lines for the hardship fund which means we have to see rent arrears letters , mortage arrears letters or ballif letters before payment is given. We have £30 000 in the London Hardship fund which sounds a lot but if we give an average of £250 to each claim then we have only enough money to pay another 120 members. There are 12000 members in London who have so far lost 18 days strike action the most so far in the UK down to this strike.

So you see the union will never have enough money to assist everyone as we have 120 000 members.

I was told that they cant take out the two strike days pay ( 6th and 9th ) on the same week as that would be illegal because it is on two different weeks . Is this true ?
