Andrew from Scotland says:Oct 30, 21:10
I think if people knew the facts about the post office, then they might have a better sympathy for the workers out on strike;
1. this government decided to withold their share of the pension contribution which is supposed to be their legal obligation to anyone paying into a public sector pension, but have no problem with bankers cranking up their pensions with our money.
2. European legislation which again this government signed up to mean't that foreign companies could use postal services without any additional consts and in some cases, no cost at all.
3. Peter Mandelson's meeting last year with the postal unions fell apart becaue he was only interested in forcing them to accept a buyout by TNT who were going to be subsidised by this very government.
4. The present boss of the post office is one ADAM CROZIER; anyone remember him, forced to resign as Chairman of the FA and where did he next end up, head of HBOS and then where did he next go, oh Executive Advisor to LLoyds TSB before their merger with HBOS in which both banks nearly went to the walls and needed yet more tax payers money. So what a surprise, he ends up at the Post Office and what a surprise, another organisation with him at the helm which is falling apart. You have three guesses who recommended him for the post; initials pm and for once not Gordon Brown.
4. Have a look at the new european constitution and the act that was passed previously ( strange how we haven't had a vote on anything to do with Europe with Gordon Brown and his cronies - nice him pushing for tony blair for president - funny that ,you would think it a done deal - hmmm!) closely and see why this government is trying to push through the collapse of the post office.
Think about all the utility companies that have been sold to foreign investors - water, gas, electricity - have you had better service, cheaper deals - think on this then - Germany and France have not let any foreign companies own their national utility companies but complain about competition rules when Britsh companies try to stop themselves being bought over and this government rolls over for foreign interest is paramount whilst british interests are not.
Does anyone know that two months ago, our membership of the European Union went up by 60% and what did this government say about that - they said it was only right to help pay for the new countires joining the European Union.
So what chance has the post office wehn this government connives with foreign interest behind their backs and the Tories seem to be singing from the same hymsheet.
So if you are exasperated with the postal strikes think that you are seeing something for the last time, a British Institution, that was the first postal service in the world. It has subsequently been starved of funds by governments past and present; had to contend with competitives being subsidised by both Europe and British governments and is it any wonder that the strikes have happened, for this government is determined that they will act as the grim reaper. only the naive, would believe that this government is the active power behind the destruction of the post office and when it goes - everything you post will cost more - you will have to travel further to pick up your mail and people in the island and rural communites will have to resort to catching wood pigeons to communicate and then you will remember that you once had a postal service to be proud of and them it will seem like a found remembered dream

Think Andrew from Scotland is confusing Andy Hornby with Adam Crozier regarding HBOS.
