At first I didn't understand the meaning of the word 'cutting off' until my brother mentioned it to the DOM and my brother telling me what it means. Apparently my DOM doesn't believe in cutting off and expects all mail to be delivered every day that your in. But today (Thursday 29th October) I finished at 2:30. Couldn't be bothered to claim over time as it's such a bother trying to get it. Not to mention the DOM already owes me 5 hours over time which I remind him about every single day and he says 'it'll be in next week' so I look the week after and it's not there. So what I'm asking is, are you allowed to take mail back if you can't finish on time without getting the sack from your DOM?
I appreciate any advice guys
Thank you.

And thats exactly why your DOM tell's you he doesn't believe in it. Thankfully though, what the dom believes and what is legally binding are two different things. All you need to know is that it is illegal to force you to work over your time against your will, ask him if he is aware of this issue. If you want the overtime for free then knock yourself out but if you want to finish on your contracted end time then CUT OFF!such a bother trying to get it
If your DOM still gives you grief tell him, with your rep or friend as witness that you will take the whole walk out but you will finish at your contracted time and you'll report to him with the mail. The best thing? There is not a damned thing he can do about it.

I would be lying if I told you it was a good idea if you are still on trial sadly. But after the six months you can plan your revenge.el_cartero wrote:IPS wrote:And thats exactly why your DOM tell's you he doesn't believe in it. Im on my trial period and have decided if need be that I am gonna just cut off If I feel they are taking the piss.
If they dont like it and makes their decision of not giving me a contract easier then so be it, who wants to work for people like that anyway?

Thank you for your usual advice IPS. I'll be sure to take this on board and he can shove his mail where the sun don't shine if he don't give me O/T over my contracted hours. He's only just put in my 5 hours over time that I did today. Came up to me and said he sorted it. What a bother. Jeez :/

i cut off all the time, theres nothing they can do about it, dont feel intimidated because not many people cut off and your dom puts pressure on it in your office, if he doesnt believe in cutting off take a bag back 1 day and ask him if he believes in it now.
