RUMOURS AROUND LEEDS 25% CUTS IN DOs

this morning rumours in our office were that each delivery office in ls area will be getting cuts up to 25% they are already doing 2 man in a van in ls8 how true could this be?

I wrote about this 2 weeks ago and got pelters, thing is nobody listens until its too late. Stupid arguments like "I wont be able to use a van cos I'm on the high street".

Hardly any posts showing concern. Sometimes I think people think it will never happen to them.

Here's the gist of my post:

I spoke with a senior manager and he told me that once there is agreement between union and RM there will be job cuts via VR. The job will be; 2 posties will get a small van, like a smart car/van. They will do 2 walks between them and then take a break and finally do collections. This is the plan. Its RM sneaky way of agreeing with the unions argument of Health and safety. This will mean no heavy bags, no unsafe bag drops, you can drive for toilet relief etc etc. My point was to challenge this, otherwise the job will go to something like 8.30 -4.30.

But all I got were posts challenging times( I got the hours in my post wrong by 1/2 hour) and people saying "Wont affect me I'm on the high street no where to park!".

Its coming and the budget is in place to buy these vans and for the high streets electric trolleys etc. Of course some will just walk from the office and use a bike, but this is the big plan. So all the drivers lose their driving jobs and collection driver s either go or have to work the new hours, I guess picked on seniority.

The union know this is going to happen as well. Because its all been agreed. :mfo :cfo

they have allready done that at ls8 (geo route, cdv, walk sorting -now taken more hours due to machines (@190 hours) next they are wanting to do full time/part time on all 2 man van dutys
people are getting moved all the time - the staffing is getting a bigger problem everyday
and theres more but i can`t be botherd repeating myself ( read other posts on here )

but as someone has allready said not many people are listening

You get offered an alternative walk that doesn't use cdv's so i,ve heard . So if your walk is going to be paired up with another and you cant drive , you get taken off.
